Raiders Find Their Next General Manager

The Las Vegas Raiders found their head coach this past week and have now found their general manager. The team will hire former Chargers GM Tom Telesco to replace interim GM Champ Kelly. The Raiders will be onto their third general manager since 2021, hoping that the executive who drafted Justin Herbert, Keenan Allen, and signed UDFA Austin Ekeler can work some magic for the Chargers' biggest rival.

Raiders' Telesco Had Ups and Downs As Chargers GM

The former vice president of football operations with the Indianapolis Colts from 1998-2012, which oversaw the career of Peyton Manning and included one Super Bowl victory, Telesco was the youngest general manager at the time of his hiring in 2013. He saw the Chargers go through ups and downs including the later years of Phillip Rivers' career including that 2018 season where the team won 12 games and made the playoffs. He later drafted Justin Herbert sixth overall in 2020, but only has one playoff appearance under his franchise quarterback to show for it.

Telesco Takes Over Raiders In Important Offseason

Now Telesco takes over a solid Raiders' roster looking for its franchise quarterback and an identity. With respected coach Antonio Pierce on the sidelines, the future is bright in Las Vegas. But can Telesco strike gold on a franchise quarterback in this loaded class? Maybe he goes the Oregon route again and drafts Bo Nix. Whatever he does, this offseason will be one of the biggest in the history of the Raiders and whether they can compete with the top of the AFC within the next few years.
