Raiders Retain Important Offensive Lineman To Start Free Agency
The Las Vegas Raiders Take A Huge Step In Free Agency Bringing Back One Of Our Own
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, The Las Vegas Raiders and Center Andre James have agreed on a 3-year, $24 Million deal, which includes $16 Million fully guaranteed.
This is huge news for the Raiders and The Raider Nation Andre James was a key unrestricted free agent that the Raiders needed to bring back. This guy has been getting better and better every single year, and now the left side is taken care of for the team going forward. James will be at center, Dylan Parham will be the left guard, and Kolton Miller will be the anchor on that left side at tackle.
The team expected to have some trouble bringing back all of its free agents, but James was a priority. Signing him for $8 million a year is a bargain because James is developing into a top-five center in the NFL.
James has appeared in 76 games for the Raiders since 2019, and then in 2021, he became the full-time starter after the team traded starting center Rodney Hudson to the Arizona Cardinals. He has started in 48 games since he was named the full-time center.
With this signing and more to come, I believe some players who want to return to the team will take a bit of a hometown discount. I have heard that the team hopes that Josh Jacobs will honor his words from earlier in the season, and re-sign with the team at a decent salary because the team named Antonio Pierce as the full-time head coach.
It's just the beginning of free agency, but I'm sure the Raiders will continue to impress with these sensible signings that make sense. Don't overspend Raiders!! The culture is changing. I guarantee that.
