Pittsburgh Steelers Acquire Former Super Bowl Champion
The Pittsburgh Steelers had a great offseason in 2024. After revamping the quarterback room by trading for former Bears 2021 first-round pick Justin Fields and signing future Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson, experts say the team also had one of the best drafts.
The team has attempted to upgrade its receiving room after signing former Rams wide receiver Van Jefferson and drafting Michigan standout receiver Roman Wilson. But Pittsburgh isn't done adding yet, as the team signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Scotty Miller this week.Â
Steelers Bring In Former Buccaneers Wide Receiver Scotty Miller
If you remember the name, Scotty Miller, you might be thinking of his famous touchdown catch in the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers in 2021. In what would be a 31-26 Tampa Bay victory, the wide receiver made his name known by burning Packers cornerback Kevin King for a deep 39-yard touchdown catch to put the Buccaneers up big at halftime.Â
The former 2019 sixth-round pick had his best season in his sophomore campaign, recording 501 yards and three touchdown receptions. Unfortunately, Miller has not seen as much action since only recording 384 yards on 39 receptions since the 2021 season. So, while he won't be a game-changing target for Russell Wilson, Miller will also bring in-depth experience and playoff experience.
After spending last season with the Atlanta Falcons, who had poor quarterback play throughout the entire season, this is a new chance for Miller to revive his career. He will be reunited with Arthur Smith, the Steelers' offensive coordinator, who was the Falcons' head coach last season. The terms for the contract have yet to be revealed, but the former Bowling Green star signed a one-year contract in the Steel City.
