Oregon is one of the biggest brands in college football, and they are very hard to miss. They have one of the most excellent color combinations in all sports, with yellow, green, and white, and have the best uniforms in the country each week.
The Ducks saw their playoff hopes go up in flames last week when they lost the Pac-12 title game to Washington.
Quarterback Box Nix had an incredible year and even saw himself as a Heisman finalist.
Nix will be heading to the NFL Draft this April, so Oregon went out in the transfer portal to find their new signal caller, and they came away with Oklahoma’s Dillon Gabriel.
Gabriel is now at his third school after starting his career at UCF, and he has spent the last two seasons in Norman.
Gabriel threw for 3,660 yards and 30 touchdowns and also used his legs, picking up 373 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023.
Gabriel will go into 2024 with 49 starts under his belt, which is something Oregon fans are used to seeing, Nix hit over the 60 mark this season.
Oregon will be heading to the Big Ten in 2024, so they will be facing new teams they have hardly seen before, and the experience from Gabriel will be absolutely massive.
Gabriel will bring so much upside to an already great Ducks team. I don't see Oregon missing a beat next season. Head coach Dan Lanning is one of the brightest young minds in the sport, and his team has excellent athletes and players.
The biggest question was who would replace Nix at quarterback, and they couldn't have gotten anyone better at the job. Gabriel should have a great season in Eugene, and I wouldn't be shocked if we see him in a year accepting the 2024 Heisman Trophy.
