New England Patriots Could Acquire Elite Weapon
The New England Patriots are entering a huge rebuild under new head coach Jerod Mayo. The team looks to get back to its winning ways and with a stellar defense, the team's focus should be on searching for a franchise quarterback and wide receiver. With a huge hole in the receiving game, the Patriots should take a look at signing Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.
Tee Higgins Could Boost The Patriots Offense
The Patriots could bring in an elite weapon by signing receiver Tee Higgins in free agency. The 25-year-old was drafted in the second-round in 2020 by the Cincinnati Bengals and has been a star ever since. He has posted 900+ receiving yards in his first three seasons and had a career-low 656 yards this past season due to missing 5 games, but still added five touchdowns. But outside of his rookie season, Higgins has been a number-two receiver behind Ja'Marr Chase and could blossom being the go-to guy in New England.
If the Patriots sign Higgins, it gives them an immediate upgrade in the receiving room and allows potentially a rookie quarterback to develop or give a veteran a weapon to throw to. With Higgins paired with stud rookie DeMario Douglas, New England could be in good hands for the future. While it's very likely Cincinnati gives Higgins the franchise-tag, the Patriots should sign him quickly if he does not as he will help immediately. It will be a big off-season for Robert Kraft's team, but adding a big name wide receiver like Higgins should be a top priority.
