Must Play Patriots Props Against the Dolphins for Week 1
The New England Patriots kick off their season in Miami against the Dolphins on Sunday. While they have not had much success in the Sunshine State over the past few seasons, that does not mean things cannot change. Both teams start with a clean slate.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Summer was fun, but it’s time for the main course. Fans have been on the edge of their seats for months, waiting for the most fantastic franchise in football history to take the field. But, unfortunately, they do so down south, which is not an ideal start of the season for the Patriots.
Training camp gave Patriots Nation a sneak peek of the future during the preseason. Mac Jones looked better than a season ago, on the field and at the podium. The rookies made an instant impact, leading to more significant roles in the offense. Oh, and no one knows who’s calling plays. Wonderful!
The only thing better than football being back is the ability to bet on it. So here are some of my best props to play in this contest. Remember, gamble responsibly.
Damien Harris UNDER 1.5 touchdowns; Stevenson OVER 1.5 touchdowns
The Patriots’ run game may be one of their most substantial facets. Their deep backfield gives the offense an upper hand. Harris will be the RB1, even leading the team in yards. However, the sophomore rusher will be utilized in scoring opportunities.
Rhomandre Stevenson proved last season that he is more than just a 3rd down back. He rushed for over 600 yards and scored five times in 2021. The Patriots need his power and explosiveness in the red zone if they want to escape with a win.
Mac Jones OVER 8.5 RUSH yards
Patriots quarterbacks are not known for their scrambling abilities. Instead, they do their damage in the pocket. But this just seems like easy money.
Jones mimics Brady in more ways than one, except when dealing with a pass rush. Jones will roll to the outside, even breaking off a run for a few yards. The Patriots’ offensive line struggled during the offseason to protect Mac.
If Mac scrambles twice, you’ll make your money back and then some.
Tua has OVER 0.5 interceptions.
I’m not going to try and predict which Patriots player will have the best game. I just know that Tua will turn the ball over at some point. In 2021, he threw ten interceptions. The Dolphins added Tyreek Hill to the offense. Does that mean Tua will automatically have a better TD-INT ratio?
I don’t think so.
The Patriots’ secondary is going to be all over Hill and Waddle. One of Tua’s passes has to bounce in the hands of Jalen Mills or Marcus Jones. It’s inevitable.
Jakobi Meyers OVER 46.5 receiving yards
Devante Parker shines as he returns to Miami since being traded. He showed flashes of greatness in the preseason but will need time to get acquainted with the New England offense. Jones will need a receiver who defines reliability. Jakobi Meyers.
Jakobi Meyers has been the most consistent pass catcher on the Pats roster. He averages a 67% catch rate over the past three seasons. However, Jones will need him to make some big plays in crunch time.
Total score UNDER 50.5
There is no way these two teams combine for over fifty points. This game will be decided in the trenches and on the ground. Teams use the first game as a baseline for the rest of the season. Mistakes are going to be made.
Also, both teams have weaknesses that the other can exploit. The Patriots’ defensive backs need to keep Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle in front of them, while the Dolphins need to attack Mac every chance they get. I doubt these two former national champions will have a shootout to kick off the year.
