Mike Williams Offers Much Risk & Little Reward For Fantasy

The New York Jets signed Williams to a one-year, 15-million dollar contract this off-season to help redefine their receiving corps. Mike Williams has been placed on the active PUP list to open training camp. It’s not a surprise, as he is working back from last September’s torn ACL. Williams can be activated from the PUP list anytime and would be eligible to play Week 1.

Before the injury, Williams was extremely productive, ranking as WR15 overall and WR17 in points per game. If Williams is, in fact, active in Week 1, he will immediately have a role in the Jets’ offense as Aaron Rodgers' WR2 option. Williams has always had a boom or bust profile in his 7 years as a pro. He has only been a WR1 once (in 2021, he was WR12 overall in PPR and WR10 in half-PPR).

For the rest of his playing career, where he played at least 11 games, he has finished as WR24, WR38, WR44, and WR30 in half PPR. Now that he is almost 30 and on a new team rehabbing a torn ACL, it will be tough for him to produce any consistent fantasy points this year and possibly for the rest of his career. Williams’ current ADP is 12.2, and WR46 is off the board.

Our consensus projections for Williams in the 2024 season are 53 receptions, 783 yards, and 5 touchdowns.
