Meet The 2022 Philadelphia Eagles’ Team Captains

The Philadelphia Eagles just announced their team captains for the 2022 season. These players were voted by their teammates to be the leaders of the team.

Jalen Hurts

The Eagles named Jalen Hurts a team captain for the second straight season. Hurts has been a leader ever since getting the starting quarterback job late in the 2020 season. He has his work cut out for him this year as he wants to take the Eagles to the next level. Hurts has the right attitude and is always pushing himself and those around him to get better.

Jason Kelce

Jason Kelce is going to be remembered as one of football’s best centers. He is going into his 12th season and fifth straight year being named a captain. Kelce is the perfect leader for the offense and will anchor one of the NFL’s best offensive lines this year. Hopefully he is fully healthy by Week One as he had elbow surgery during the preseason.

Lane Johnson

Lane Johnson is another long-time member of the Eagles’ offensive line. He’s been with the Eagles since 2013 and continues to play at a high level. This is Johnson’s first season being named a team captain.

Brandon Graham

Brandon Graham is the longest tenured Eagle, so it makes perfect sense he was voted a captain. He missed nearly the entire 2021 season due to an Achilles injury, so the Eagles are glad to have him back. This is Graham’s fourth time being named a captain

Fletcher Cox

Cox is another leader for the Eagles’ defense. This is the fifth straight season named a team captain and could be his last in Philadelphia. Cox was brought back on a one-year deal, so the Eagles are likely going with younger talent in 2023 and beyond.

Darius Slay

Slay has been a leader of the Eagles’ secondary since he got to Philadelphia in 2020. He led the Eagles in interceptions in 2021 and recorded a pick-6 in the game against the Saints. Slay was named a captain for the first time in his NFL career. He previously was a number one corner for the Detroit Lions.

Jake Elliott

Jake Elliott is the team captain for special teams. He had an outstanding year as a kicker in 2021 kicking a career best 91% field goal percentage and was 100% on extra points. This earned him Pro-Bowl honors for the first time in his career. This will be Elliott’s sixth season as an Eagle.
