Marvin Harrison Jr. Is Taking On A Smart Approach For The NFL Draft
One of the best weeks on the NFL calendar is upon us, and that would be the NFL Scouting Combine, where many upcoming draft-eligible players will be spread by position groups in Indianapolis, Indiana, for a handful of days and will do interviews with teams, take tests, do physical drills, and a ton of other things but one of the best players in this year's class is going to be sitting out some of these events.
Marvin Harrison Jr. Opts Out
According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, Marvin Harrison Jr is not expected to do any testing at this year's NFL Combine.
Harrison will likely be the first non-quarterback drafted and should be picked within the first five picks. The approach of not doing any testing at the Combine is probably a good one because he can't get injured.
The 21-year old wide receiver is the number one player at his position in one of the deepest classes we have ever seen.
Harrison can do nothing to improve his draft stock; the only thing that could hurt it is if something bad happens to him physically and he suffers some injury.
You never know. He could be running the 40-yard dash, tear something in his knee, and could be done for the entire season for something that he didn't have to do.
The Combine is essential for many players because this is the time they get to show NFL teams their physical, mental, verbal, and whatever other traits you can think of, and the NFL Combine is a good place for many players to rise, boards if they test well.
Harrison is already number one on many team's boards, and the Combine is irrelevant to him. Harrison will interview very well; he is one of the most humbled and nicest young people ever in front of a camera and will be a great addition on and off the field for any NFL team.
