London Takeover: Bears Dominate Jaguars in Statement Win Across the Pond
Caleb Williams throws 4 touchdowns as the Bears breeze past the Jaguars.
Nothing changed for the Bears across the pond. As the home team, the Bears have won 9 straight, 8 at Soldier Field. They continued this dominance from London at the Tottenham Spurs stadium making it their own. The Bears have begun to catch fire before their bye week winning 3 straight and getting their record back to 4-2.
The game started slowly for the Bears allowing an opening drive field goal to the Jags and going 3 and out on their first possession. Things changed quickly as on there the second drive of the game Williams led a touchdown drive capped off by a bit of trickery. Williams dropped back and pump-faked left and then right before coming back over the middle to find Cole Kmet for the game's first touchdown.
On their next possession, Caleb looked to have DJ Moore wide open for another score but he put a little too much air on it leading to an interception. That was the last of mistakes by the Bears as they dominated from that point on. With three minutes to go in the half, Williams led a 10-play 85-yard drive that ended with Kmet's second touchdown of the day.
Up 14-3 at the half, the Bears defense came out swinging. On the first play, Evan Engram caught a pass from Trevor Lawerence but had the ball punched out by TJ Edwards. The Bears took advantage quickly working down the field. On 3rd and goal Caleb dropped back and threw a perfect back shoulder ball to Keenan Allen. The whole play itself was a masterpiece and shows Williams is improving his chemistry with his weapons each week.
After a touchdown by the Jags, Williams was ready to get back after it. To cap off his four-touchdown day he found Keenan Allen again for his second touchdown of the day. Allen, who had been quiet and injured to start the year, finally is starting to show why he is such an important piece to this offense.
The game was pretty much out of reach at this point with the Bears leading 28-10, they forced another turnover. Backup corner Josh Blackwell picked off Lawerence again leading to a Deandre swift touchdown.
The Bears are 4-2. They are exactly where they want to be and better than most Bears fans could have dreamed of. They are 3rd in the NFL in point differential at +47. The bye week will be key as some minor injuries on defense will be taken care of during that time off.
After the bye, the Bears will match up against the Washington Commanders and Jayden Daniels. Daniels vs. Williams will be must-see television as the battle of top draft picks goes down. With the way this defense plays and the quick but consistent improvement of Caleb Williams the sky is the limit for this team and the playoffs are a real possibility.
