Joshua Palmer Has A Chance To Be WR1 On The Chargers
Josh Palmer had a solid second season with the Los Angeles Chargers but regressed the following year. This was mainly due to a nagging knee injury he had to deal with, but he still put up a decent stat line in the 10 games he played. He was targeted 61 times and made 38 catches for 581 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Unfortunately for Joshua Palmer, he didn't produce great fantasy performances, even though Allen and Williams missed time last year. He only had two weeks with top-12 finishes. In Week 7, he was WR10 with a Yards per catch of 19, and the other was Week 15 with a 28.25 YPC, meaning he needed huge chunk plays to be successful in fantasy. The rest of the time, he was a WR3 or worse.
Palmer, if he remains healthy, has a tremendous opportunity with the departure of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. The number 1 receiver spot is open right now, and Palmer looked much better than Quinton Johnson last season.
Now Palmer has to deal with Ladd McConkey. Still, with more competent coaching and opportunities due to departures in the offseason (Allen, Eckler, Williams), Josh Palmer is a really solid option as the 157th player off the board in Sleeper leagues. All of the hype is on McConkey, and Palmer is being treated like QJ, even though he has shown he can be a productive player.
Our consensus projections for Palmer in the 2024 season are 49 receptions, 664 yards, and 6 touchdowns.
