Jonathan Mingo Might Cement Bust Status For Fantasy
Jonathan Mingo came into the NFL last season as a 2nd round rookie, and it was expected that he would be a key weapon for Bryce Young. Like everything that happened with the Carolina Panthers last season, everything was a mess.
Mingo was ineffective last season (he had a 40th percentile YAC rating), and while he got targeted 85 times, he was only able to convert that into 43 receptions for 418 receiving yards. He never finished higher than a WR3 on a team that was desperate for another weapon besides Thielen. To make it even worse, Mingo was also banged up last season. Playing only some of the Week 3 game vs Seattle and did not suit up the next week against Miami
For this season, it will be more challenging for him to get the snaps he got as Carolina acquired Dionte Johnson via trade and drafted Xavier Legette in the first round. While he could be an intriguing gamble in Dynasty leagues, he should remain on the waiver wire until he starts to showcase the skills that made him a second-round pick. Whatever you do, stay away from him in Redraft formats.
Our consensus projections for Mingo in the 2024 season are 20 receptions, 210 yards, and 1 touchdown.
