Jared Goff Is Definitely Dan Campbell’s Guy

The Lions Continue To Do Everything Right

Opinions change faster than the weather in today’s sports media realm. A player could be on top of the world for a week, then completely forget about the next. Many solid options are lost in the shuffle due to the amount of superstar caliber QBs in the league.

Guys like Derek Carr and Ryan Tannehill have the same if not more of a chance to lead their teams to a championship than the usual suspects. Jared Goff sits alongside these two, even if most of the community disagrees.

Before being sent to the Motor City, Goff captained a historic offense with Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks, and Todd Gurley. They made the Super Bowl but were bullied by Belichick and the Pats en route to their 6th Super Bowl.

After the loss, McVay seemed to lose confidence in Goff, wishing he had someone with a cannon for an arm. Unfortunately, history is not in favor of Goff’s chances to succeed on his new team. However, things are changing for the better.

What Makes Goff The Best Fit?

Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes bring a different energy to the organization. Their different perspectives on how things are run are things fans have not seen before. However, their 2021 record does not tell the whole story. There were games where the opponents snatched the win out of their clutches in the final seconds.

Jared Goff did not play great in many games, but who would have? Before the Josh Reynolds trade, his number one target was Khalif Raymond, a punt returner a season ago. Towards the end of the season, Goff and Reynolds rekindled what they started in Hollywood.

Amon-Ra broke out, putting the team on the national stage with his sensational play culminating in earning POTY honors in Week 18. He ended the season leading the team in receptions (90), yards (912), and touchdowns (five).

Goff And GOAT Share The Same Record

When it comes to determining a QB’s success, playoff wins hold most of the weight. However, passing yards are not far behind.

A few days ago, CBS Sports tweeted a stat supporting the case to give Goff a chance.

Only two QB have 45+ wins and 20,000 Pass Yards over the last 5 seasons ▪️Tom Brady ▪️Jared Goff — NFL on CBS 🏈 (@NFLonCBS) May 3, 2022

There are many differences between Goff and Brady, but the biggest being their situations over those seasons. Brady played under two of the best coaches in league history and a list full of pro bowlers. Goff spent it with a young wiz kid trying to etch his name into the history books. Goff worked the entire season to develop any chemistry with his peers.

Detroit is a different team heading into the 2022 season. Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes have entirely shifted the culture in their short time together. Goff’s numbers shot up once he knew who he could rely on in crucial moments. The future is bright for Goff; the Lions are about to bite off some kneecaps.
