How Many Picks Do The Philadelphia Eagles Have In The 2024 NFL Draft?

The Philadelphia Eagles are heading into the 2024 NFL Draft with a total of eight picks across various rounds. This draft is set to be a pivotal moment for the team as they look to build on their roster and address key areas of need.

Let's take a look at what Philly has going into the draft. Don't be surprised if there are trades and the team moves up or down throughout draft weekend.

The Eagles First Pick Comes Towards The End Of The First Round.

The Eagles’ first pick comes in the first round at No. 22 overall. This selection is based on the team’s performance in the 2023 season and subsequent playoff outcomes. Philly went 11-6 this past season and despite a strong start to the year, they were bounced out in the wildcard round. Historically, the Eagles have been strategic with their first-round picks, often trading out of their original slot to maximize value and address specific roster needs.

In the second round, the Eagles hold two picks. The first of these is number 50 overall, which was acquired from the New Orleans Saints in a pre-2022 NFL Draft trade that involved eight picks being exchanged between the two teams. The second second-round pick is number 53 overall, a spot where the Eagles have previously found success, drafting notable players like quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Miles Sanders who is now with the Carolina Panthers.

The Eagles do not have a third-round pick, as it was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers along with a compensatory pick and two 2025 seventh-round draft picks in exchange for Kenny Pickett and the fourth-round number 120 overall pick. Pickett offers the Eagles a more reliable backup quarterback option compared to the past couple of seasons, so it seems like trading away the pick could be a smart move.

In the fifth round, the Eagles have three picks. Number 161 overall was acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while 171 and 172 overall are compensatory picks awarded by the NFL. Compensatory picks are given to teams that have lost more or better compensatory free agents than they acquired in the previous year. Philly lost several notable free agents following their NFC Championship season in 2022.

The final pick for the Eagles is in the sixth round, number 210 overall, another compensatory pick. These selections provide the Eagles with opportunities to add depth to their roster and select potential developmental players who could contribute in the future.

Overall, the Eagles’ eight picks in the 2024 NFL Draft give them a chance to bolster their squad. With a mix of their own picks and those acquired through trades, the Eagles have the flexibility to move up or down the draft board as they see fit. The front office, led by General Manager Howie Roseman, is known for its draft-day maneuvers, and it will be interesting to see how they utilize these picks to shape the future of the team.
