How Many Philadelphia Eagles Players Landed On The NFL Top 100 List?

Philadelphia Eagles players got plenty of recognition on the 2023 NFL Top 100 Players list. After several weeks of the league releasing small parts of the list, fans finally got to see the entirety of it this week. With the Eagles coming off a Super Bowl appearance last season, it is no surprise that they had multiple players on the list. Let’s see where Philly’s stars rank according to the league-wide player vote.

100. DeVonta Smith (Wide Receiver)

The Eagles 2021 first-round pick and 2020 Heisman winner for Alabama is often overshadowed by WR A.J. Brown, but he is still a great player. Smith set the franchise record for Eagles rookies in 2021 with 916 receiving yards and followed that up with 1,196 receiving yards in 2022. He appeared in every game during his two-year pro career and should continue to be a significant part of the offense.

65. Darius Slay (Cornerback)

“Big-Play Slay” moved up 12 spots this year after a fifth career Pro-Bowl nomination last year. He finished 2022 with 55 tackles, 14 pass breakups, and three interceptions. He didn’t reach the end zone like he did twice in 2021, but he helped shut down opposing receivers all season long.

48. Haason Reddick (Linebacker)

It was quite the homecoming for the former Temple star who grew up in Camden, New Jersey. Reddick joined the Eagles in last year’s free agency after several years with the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers. In 2022, he recorded a career-high 16 sacks along with 49 tackles, and five forced fumbles.

41. Lane Johnson (Offensive Tackle)

Johnson has been a mainstay on Philly’s offensive line since being selected fourth overall in 2013. This year will be his 11th season for the four-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro.

37. Jason Kelce (Center)

Kelce moved up 34 spots since last year, but 37 still seems low for the best center in the league. The 2011 sixth-round draft pick was named to the past four-straight Pro bowls and six overall. Kelce is a fan-favorite especially for the ways he engages with them. He co-hosts a podcast with his brother Travis of the Kansas City Chiefs, and he created a Christmas music album with several of his teammates last year.

22. A.J. Brown (Wide Receiver)

After the Eagles missed on several high draft picks at the receiver position, the trade for A.J. Brown before last season was a huge relief. Brown made the most of his opportunities as he recorded a career high in receptions (88), receiving yards (1,496), and touchdowns (11). He and DeVonta Smith form one of the best receiver duos in the entire league and should be even more dangerous in 2023.

3. Jalen Hurts (Quarterback)

The only two players ranked ahead of Jalen Hurts were quarterback Patrick Mahomes (no. 1) and wide receiver Justin Jefferson (no. 2). Hurts was not even on the list before, so it shows how much of an impact he made last season. He was considered the front-runner for the MVP award before going down with a shoulder injury for two weeks in December. He finished the 2022 season with 3,701 passing yards, 760 rushing yards, and 35 total touchdowns. He earned a contract extension during the offseason keeping him in Philadelphia for years to come.

Looking Ahead To The Eagles Season

The Eagles came so close to a Super Bowl win last season, so they will be hungrier than ever to get back. Even with roster changes this offseason, Philadelphia’s top players from a year ago will be returning. It should be another exciting year in South Philly. Congratulations to the seven Eagles players for being named to the Top 100!
