Erling Haaland Continues His Dominance With Ridiculous FA Cup Stat Line

On Tuesday night, Manchester City faced off in an FA Cup match against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road. The match ended with a shocking 6-2 scoreline, Manchester City being the outstanding winners. During this match, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City looked at their absolute best, with Erling Haaland having 5 goals and Kevin De Bruyne having 4 assists.

Haaland has only scored three goals in seven appearances since he returned from a foot injury that had kept him sidelined for almost 2 months. This match was a warning sign to all of Manchester City’s rivals, and Haaland demonstrated that he is back to his goal-scoring ways. In this match, Haaland became the first top-flight player to score 5 goals in one FA Cup match since George Best scored 6 with Manchester United versus Northampton Town in 1970.

After the match, Haaland spoke with news outlet ITV saying “I am getting back to my best.” He also added “Finally I am feeling good. It’s an amazing feeling. It’s coming, we’re coming. Exciting times ahead. We are ready to attack.”

Later the Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola, went on to talk about Erling’s partner in crime, Kevin De Bruyne, who gave 4 of the assists to Haaland. “The connection they have. Erling needs a player like Kevin and Kevin needs a player like Erling.” If that connection can continue on this path, it's hard to see Man City getting stopped.

Now, Erling Haalannd has 79 goals in 83 appearances for the club as a whole, with most of those goals coming last season when Haaland helped lead Manchester City to their first-ever treble win (Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup). After what was a slow start to the standards of the English giants, now they are just one point behind Premier League leaders and rivals, Liverpool, in the Premier League standings.

They've also put one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals after they won 3-1 vs FC Copenhagen in their Round of 16 match-up. The road doesn't get easier for Haaland and his squad: if they get past Copenhagen, Real Madrid could be next, and in the Premier League, they remain in a tight top-three race.

However, there's no question that Haaland and Man City have set themselves up well.
