Giants NFC East Odds Gotten Stronger
The Giants won their week one matchup against the Titans. How has their victory impacted their betting odds to win the division this season?
The New York Giants were trailing 13-0 at halftime against the Tennessee Titans and looked lifeless. New York then went on to score 21 unanswered points in the second half on the road against Tennesse and won 21-20.
Randy Bullock missed a 47-yard field goal for the Titans as time expired in regulation. This was Brian Daboll’s first win as New York Giants head coach after going for a two-point conversion with 1:06 remaining in regulation on a Daniel Jones shovel pass to Saquon Barkley. Jones threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Chris Myarick.
Saquon Barkley played out of his mind for the New York Giants with 164 yards on 18 carries and one touchdown. He also caught six passes for 30 yards receiving.
Daniel Jones completed 17-of-21 passes for 188 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He also rushed for 25 yards on six carries. Jones was chewed out on the sideline by Daboll in the fourth quarter after a bad interception. Jones also threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Sterling Shepard in the third quarter. With all of this happening, what does this mean for the New York Giants’ odds to win the NFC East?
How The Giants’ Odds Have Changed After Their Week One Win
Well, the New York Giants were the least likely to win the NFC East before Week One began, but a lot has changed since then. New York now has the third-best odds at +490 on FanDuel Sportsbook to win the NFC East. The Dallas Cowboys have the least favorable odds at +500 on FanDuel Sportsbook to win the NFC East because of the Dak Prescott hand injury that will sideline him for at least six weeks.
Dallas’s 2022 season is over. They aren’t going to recover and the Cowboys were the only NFC East team to lose on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 19-3.
The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Detroit Lions 38-35 and Philadelphia has the best odds to win the NFC East at -130. It feels like their division to lose at this point because of all of the talents they have on their roster.
The Washington Commanders defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 28-22 and Washington has the second-best odds to win the NFC East at +400.
New York still has a long way to go and it feels like this Week One win against the Tennessee Titans could be fool’s gold for them. Will Saquon Barkley have a game like that again? Will Daniel Jones get any better or not? Also, can the defense get better with Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari returning from injury or not?
There are many answers to be solved. The team has a long way to go. This is a step in the right direction and the New York Giants (1-0) next game will be against the Carolina Panthers (0-1) on Sunday, September 18th.
The pick: Fade the New York Giants (+490).
Daboll wins first challenge
Brian Daboll challenged a call in the fourth quarter, his first challenge as a head coach. He won, saving the Giants 8 yards after a fourth-quarter catch by Tennessee tight end Chig Ogonkwo.
What’s next?
The Giants host the Carolina Panthers next Sunday, Sept. 18, in their home opener at MetLife Stadium. Game time is 1 p.m., and FOX will have the telecast.
