Eagles Star Sends Out A Beautiful Message Following Departure
Flash back to March 2022, the Philadelphia Eagles signed free agent pass rusher Haason Reddick to a three-year deal. It was a homecoming for the Camden, New Jersey native and Temple Owl star. Reddick played for two NFL teams since being drafted in 2017 and was seen as a player that could help elevate the Eagles' pass rush.
However, Reddick did more than just help the Eagles defense. He was a major factor in the Eagles leading the entire league in sacks during the 2022 season. Reddick recorded 16 sacks, 49 tackles, and forced five fumbles as Philly nearly became Super Bowl Champions that year. This past season, Reddick was very effective as well. He recorded double digit sacks once again and had 38 tackles. Reddick earned Pro Bowl honors during both of his seasons wearing the midnight green.
His production warranted a major extension, but with multiple players to pay, Philadelphia was not in the best position to offer a lot. They ultimately parted ways with him by trading Reddick to the New York Jets for a conditional third round pick.
What Did Haason Reddick Say Regarding His Departure?
Sometimes players can get a little bitter when they are traded away from a place they loved. However, that is not the case for Reddick. After all, the NFL is a business, so teams and players have to do what is best for them. Here is what he put out on X. Players and fans are sure to like this message.
"Philadelphia, saying “thank you” is not enough to express my gratitude for the love and support you showed me in my time as an Eagle. Bird Gang, it was an honor to play for you, as your love for the game and your city is a feat to behold.
To my teammates, brothers forever. New challenges and teams will never sever the bond of friendship made on and off the field.
To the Eagles organization, thank you for the opportunity to play in my home city. This was a dream for any kid growing up in Camden.
To my family, you are the backbone of my life. I would have never been able to achieve my dreams.
New York and #GangGreen, I’m excited for the next step in this journey. I cannot wait to get to work!"

The Eagles will miss Haason Reddick a lot. He was one of the best value free agent acquisitions in recent memory. Reddick played his heart out for Philly, so hopefully he finds success in New York.
