Eagles Player Sets New Franchise Record

The Philadelphia Eagles won a thriller this weekend in their overtime win against the Buffalo Bills. Outside of the second half comeback, the day was memorable for something else. Defensive end Brandon Graham set a new franchise record for the number of games played in an Eagles uniform.

More On This Eagles Great

The 35-year-old veteran has played in 189 regular-season games for the Eagles, setting a new franchise record in Philadelphia's game against the Buffalo Bills. He surpassed the previous mark of 188 games held by legendary kicker David Akers, who played for the Eagles from 1999 to 2010.

Graham was drafted by the Eagles in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft with the 13th overall pick out of Michigan, where he was a standout defensive end and the Big Ten co-MVP in 2009. His career got off to a slow start with fans and media calling him a bust. However, his play improved over the years, and he would go on to sign four contract extensions with the team, the latest one in 2021 that runs through the end of this season.

He has been a key contributor to the Eagles’ defense, leading the team in sacks with 9.5 in 2017, when the Eagles won their first Super Bowl title in franchise history. Graham also made one of the most memorable plays in Super Bowl LII, when he strip-sacked Tom Brady in the final minutes of the game, sealing the Eagles’ 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots.

Graham has been a consistent and productive pass rusher throughout his career, recording 70.5 sacks, which ranks fourth in Eagles history behind Reggie White, Trent Cole, and Clyde Simmons. He has also been a force against the run, registering 451 tackles, 21 forced fumbles, and seven fumble recoveries. He has earned several individual honors, including a second-team All-Pro selection in 2016 and a Pro Bowl selection in 2020.

Graham has also been a leader and a mentor for the Eagles, both on and off the field. He has been a vocal and positive presence in the locker room, helping the younger players develop and grow. He has also been active in the community, supporting various charitable causes and initiatives. He has been nominated for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award twice, in 2017 and 2019, for his excellence in football and philanthropy.

Graham is not only the Eagles’ iron man, but also their heart and soul. He has been a loyal and beloved member of the Eagles family for over a decade, and he has left a lasting legacy in Philadelphia. He is one of the greatest players to ever wear an Eagles jersey, and he deserves to be celebrated and honored for his remarkable achievement.
