Drew Lock Pushes For Starting Role To Be Fantasy Relevant
In the 2023 season, Drew Lock started two games for Seattle after starter Geno Smith suffered an injury. In these two starts, Lock failed to produce good fantasy weeks, finishing as quarterback 17 and quarterback 25. Although his passing numbers weren’t terrible in those games, with a completion percentage of 68.8 and at least 200 passing yards in each, Lock offers practically zero rushing upside, so he will usually rely on touchdowns.
In the 2024 offseason, Lock signed with the Giants with the likelihood of being their backup. For a quarterback that relies on touchdowns, this may be one of the worst places to go, as the Giants' only real weapons are unproven rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers and RB Devin Singletary. Lock may get the starting job early on in the season as QB Daniel Jones may not be fully recovered from his ACL injury.
It would also not be a major surprise if Jones returned only to struggle and later get benched. If you are a manager in a 1-QB league, Lock should not be on your radar even if given the starting chance. In 2-QB leagues, he should only be considered if you are desperate for the quarterback position.
