Detroit Lions Vs. Philadelphia Eagles: What To Bet On

The first Sunday of the NFL season is finally here and one of the most intriguing games on the early slate is the Lions’ matchup with the Eagles. I want to talk about the best parlays and props to bet on for this exciting matchup.

Detroit and Philadelphia fans will be tuning in, but this game should get some viewership nationally as well, with many fantasy football and DFS favorites on both teams. Any time you have a game with exciting players with fantasy football upside, there is also an opportunity to bet on the game in various ways as well. We’ll take a look at some of my favorite plays for this game. The first five are from DraftKings Sportsbook, while the last three are boosts over on Caesars Sportsbook.

Lions And Eagles Parlays And Props

SGP: Lions Moneyline, Over 48.5 (+425)

Call me a “homer”, but I think the Lions have a chance to win this game if everything goes well. If they win, it will almost certainly be a high-scoring game, as their defense is in no shape to stifle Jalen Hurts completely. At +425, I like the chance to win $26.25 on a $5 bet here.

Jared Goff Over 231.5 Passing Yards (-115)

Whether Detroit is playing with a lead or from behind for most of the game, there should still be plenty of passing. Goff averaged 232 passing yards in his 14 games played in 2021, and his options are much improved this season. This may be the lowest passing yardage you’ll get at these odds all year.

D’Andre Swift Over 49.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

Another yardage total that I think is too low, Swift is the healthiest he’s going to be all year and he’s out to prove he can be a top back in the NFL. His goal is to rush for 1,000 yards this season and that starts with this week against the Eagles.

D’Andre Swift Over 30.5 Receiving Yards (-120)

Swift also has a goal of over 1,000 yards receiving for the season. When Swift gets the ball in the open field, he can rack up yardage in a hurry.

Jalen Hurts Over 47.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

I’d be remiss if I totally ignored the Eagles’ offense when looking at prop plays. Detroit’s linebackers are still a weak point of the defense and Hurts rushed for 71 yards in last year’s beatdown. I expect him to break at least one big run and have a few other scramble opportunities to pick up first downs when the Lions pressure him.

Lions Win & Jared Goff Over 2.5 Passing TDs (+625)

If you’re going to hop on my first bet listed, you might as well head over to Caesars and take this one too. If Detroit manages to win, it likely means Goff has a productive day. I would even consider adding the over 2.5 passing TDs to the SGP to increase the potential payout even more.

D’Andre Swift & Amon-Ra St. Brown Each Record a TD (+525)

This one is labeled as the “Hard Knocks Odds Boost” and I’m sure all of the sportsbooks are loving the excitement around the Lions and looking to take advantage. I wouldn’t bet too much on this one, but it’s worth a “sprinkle” for sure.

Jalen Hurts Over 39.5 Rushing Yards and Dallas Goedert TD (+340)

This goes back to the Lions’ weakness at linebacker. They weren’t great at defending tight ends last year, and with the safeties preoccupied with helping cover AJ Brown and Devonta Smith on the outside, it could leave Goedert wide open in the middle of the end zone.
