Cowboys Sign Former Colts Great To The Roster
In pursuit of greatness, the Cowboys have picked up a four-time Pro Bowl player to add to its championship-caliber roster. Like a ghost in the night, this signing picked up steam quickly.
Former Colts Wide Reciever Is Now A Cowboy
Known as the “The Ghost” by Colts fans, T.Y. Hilton is headed to Dallas. NFL Network reporter Jane Slater first hinted at the signing earlier today on her Instagram story and then tweeted that the signing was something to “keep an eye on.”

Hilton had a visit and a workout with the team earlier today. Per Slater, the veteran wide receiver should provide some depth and critical help down the season’s stretch as the Cowboys solidify their path to the playoffs. Something else to keep in mind is that the Cowboys picked up Hilton over signing standout wide receiver and Super Bowl champion Odell Beckham Jr. Hilton being available now was a huge draw.
“He’s a proven wide receiver with some juice and experience. He can play multiple spots and [is] a team guy that could potentially add some depth to a team.” A Cowboys team source on the addition of TY. Hilton – Jane Slater, NFL Network
What Can This Colts Talent Bring To the Roster?
T.Y. Hilton will face a familiar Colts foe, the Jacksonville Jaguars, this week. One can assume Hilton won’t get acclimated that quickly (although Baker Mayfield makes a compelling case), but the Cowboys can feel good about his chances. As a member of the Colts, Hilton had 81 catches for 1,278 yards and five touchdowns against the Jaguars. (It’s a shame this didn’t happen a week sooner. The Texans should rename NRG Stadium to honor Hilton. During his time with the Colts, he wracked up an impressive 103 catches for 1,820 yards and 11 touchdowns in 20 games.)

Hilton is not as explosive as he was during the peak of his career, but he can still be productive. He’s been known to stretch the field and is an excellent third-down target. Also, his veteran presence should be a great lift to the locker room. So while it may be strange to see Hilton in a different jersey, Colts fans can feel some happiness knowing that Hilton now has a chance to play for that elusive Super Bowl ring.
