Could New York Giants Find Quarterback Of The Future In 2025 NFL Draft?
While the NFL season is still a few months away and the 2025 NFL Draft is even further, it’s never too early to start making predictions for big-name players in the draft. With an uncertain future at quarterback given Daniel Jones’ struggles in The Big Apple, many analysts are projecting the G-Men to have a top-five pick and select one of the many passers available.
In ESPN’s latest mock draft, written by Matt Miller, he has the New York Giants trading up with the New England Patriots to select Georgia quarterback Carson Beck first overall. The 21-year-old is one of the top prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft.
New York Giants Have Choice Of Top Quarterbacks In 2025 NFL Draft
Beck will be entering his second season as a starter at UGA after throwing for 3,941 yards, 30 total touchdowns, and six interceptions while leading the team to a 13-1 record. He is one of the top quarterbacks in the draft along with Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Texas’ Quinn Ewers, who are also in contention for the first overall pick.
Sanders started his first season at Colorado last year throwing for 3,230 yards, 31 total touchdowns, and three interceptions with a 4-7 record. He has very high expectations in 2024 where the Buffaloes will be expected to try and compete for a playoff spot with the NCAA’s new 12-team playoff format.
Ewers already has playoff experience after he and Texas fell short to Washington in the CFP semifinals last year. After transferring from Ohio State, Ewers threw for 3,479 yards, 27 total touchdowns, and only six interceptions. Texas could be better this year despite losing some top talent on the offense.
So which one would fit the best in New York's offense? The best option is to agree with Miller and go with Carson Beck. He brings winning experience, is a really good passer, and has improved his accuracy. He had a good first year as the starter and will only get better in 2024. Beck is the most proven out of the three names above and the most NFL-ready while Sanders and Ewers have concerns about taking a step towards a higher level.
Some other dark horse names to consider are Jalen Milroe (Alabama), who had over 3,300 combined passing and rushing yards along with 35 total touchdowns last season, and Conner Weigman (Texas A&M), who had ten total touchdowns in four games before suffering a season-ending injury.
One more option is Dillon Gabriel (Oregon), who has big holes to fill at Oregon but he could look to be a second-straight first-round Duck quarterback.
