Could The Miami Dolphins Bring Back This Pro Bowl Player?
The Miami Dolphins are getting ready for another season with high expectations. After narrowly losing the division title to the Buffalo Bills and falling in the Wildcard Round of the NFL Playoffs, the 'Fins are hoping for a deep playoff run and a chance to make it to the Super Bowl.
While free agency and the draft have come and gone, some great free agents are still out there. One player the Miami Dolphins should bring back is quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The 35-year-old quarterback was drafted by the team in 2012 and played there for seven years before being traded to the Tennessee Titans.
While the Dolphins are happy with Tua as their starting quarterback, it would make sense to bring back the former Miami star in case Tagovailoa gets injured and has to miss some time. Tannehill would not cost that much and would bring more experience than current backup Mike White, who has had a very unsuccessful NFL career.
Ryan Tannehill Could Reunite With Miami Dolphins
Ryan Tannehill was a first-round pick in 2012 by the Miami Dolphins, who started in Miami for seven years before taking over the Titans' offense in 2019. With Tennessee, he led them to an AFC Championship Game appearance, made his first Pro Bowl, and won AP Comeback Player of the Year.
He led the Titans to a 12-5 record in 2021 and the first seed in the AFC. With over 34K yards and 216 touchdown passes, Tannehill would be a great backup to Tua Tagovailoa.
While Tannehill had a forgettable, injury-plagued 2023 season, he still can come in when he needs to and keep Miami's playoff hopes up if the worst happened. He can also help mentor Tua and help him work on some of his mistakes.
