Commanders Sign DB DeJuan Neal From NJ Generals (USFL)

Commanders Sign DeJuan Neal

According to several sources, the Washington Commanders have signed defensive back DeJuan Neal most recently from the New Jersey Generals in the USFL.

DeJuan Neal, 25, also played for the New York Guardians in the XFL during the 2020 season and went to Shepherd University, a Division II school. He played in 43 games during his four years at Shepard and recorded 95 tackles, and three interceptions during his career.

Washington is fairly deep at the position, which simply means Neal (5-10, 190 lbs) was brought in as a camp body to hopefully bring some extra competition at the bottom of the roster. The team needs 90 players on the active roster and enough at each position when practices at camp open on July 27.

Coincidentally, this isn’t the first time DeJuan Neal has spent with Washington, he was previously signed as a UDFA back in 2019. He is also from the DMV area, growing up in Shady Side, Maryland.

Neal is the second player from the USFL to sign with an NFL team this year following Christian Sam, who signed with the Dallas Cowboys last week.
