Cleveland is associated with a lifetime of losing, it could be changing quicker than people think, it may no longer be the “Mistake On The Lake”.
For the first time in a long time, there are a lot of expectations and optimism surrounding not only one but all three major sports franchises in Cleveland, Ohio in the same year. It could feel just like 2016 all over again but this time the flagship team in the city, the Cleveland Browns may be the best one out of all of them. There are several reasons to be excited for the Cleveland Browns this season as well as the Cleveland Cavaliers and if you’ve paid any attention, the Cleveland Guardians are turning heads as well. So sit back and enjoy the ride and remember that despite the ups and downs the final destination could be magical.
Every single football season fans in Northeast Ohio get all excited just to get their heartbroken it seems. As Mike Polk Junior said it best, at least we still got the Buckeyes. However, things could be very different in 2022 as the Cleveland Browns now have a top five quarterback in the National Football League and one of the best rosters in the league as well. With another top-five tandem in the backfield of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt as well as one of the best young defenses the Browns crazily go from playoff contender to playoff winner in just a few months.

The Browns also have an added luxury of a weak start to the season with their schedule as they will play the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, and their old friend Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers within the first five weeks of the season. If Deshaun Watson is suspended the road is certainly decent enough to pick up some wins with a back up quarterback, if Watson is not suspended then it is very possible that the Cleveland Browns could start the season with six straight victories, if not more. A fast start to the year is certainly a must-have in such a loaded AFC this season.
Meanwhile, before the Cleveland Cavaliers got riddled with injuries they were one of the best young teams in the Eastern Conference and it was clear to see that their rebuild was far ahead of schedule and potentially even completed. The missing piece may have been added in the draft with the addition of Kansas forward Ochai Agbaji. He is expected to play a role alongside Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, and Jared Allen this upcoming season. As long as the Cavs manage to stay healthy they could easily be a top contender and make it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Cavs were riding high until around the end of the year last season and the addition of Caris LeVert was thought to help tremendously. However, the injuries started piling up and Mobley and Allen missed a significant amount of time. Also, Collin Sexton missed the majority of the season as well. If Lavert can gel with the team and the remaining core can remain healthy the Cleveland Cavs may just capture yet another title and their second since 2016. As of right now they only have three major contenders in the East and that is the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, and Philadelphia 76ers, so a top four seed is very plausible.
The Cleveland Guardians are the youngest team in Major League Baseball, and are performing way above the expectations that were set for them before the year began. They are exceeding expectations in a big way as they are coming into the second half of the 2022 Major League Baseball season in second place of the American League Central division and are only a few games back of both the Wild Card and the division lead. They are loaded in the farm system with several top prospects and tons of young guys who are already at the major league level like Nolan Jones and Andres Giminez to name a few.

They will be looking to storm out of the break and grab some early wins against the Chicago White Sox over the weekend. They currently sit here on July 22nd with a record of 46-44 through their first ninety games of the 2022 Major League Baseball season. They are right in the thick of playoff contention and could make some noise in the postseason as well.
