Bringing Georgia To Philly Was The Right Move

The Eagles used two 2022 draft picks on former University of Georgia defensive star players. These guys were national champions and have a winning attitude that Philadelphia fans will love. Bringing Georgia to Philadelphia was the right move.

The NFL world was very impressed when the Eagles selected the duo of nose tackle Jordan Davis and linebacker Nakobe Dean. Jordan Davis went in the first round with the 13th overall pick and Nakobe Dean was drafted in the third round with the 83rd pick. Both of these players have been impressive throughout training camp and in the first preseason game.

The Eagles going the Georgia route in the draft by selecting Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean brings to mind several duos back in the Buddy Ryan era. Nakobe Dean can be compared to Seth Joyner while Jordan Davis can be compared to Reggie White or Jerome Brown. Derek Barnett too was compared to Reggie White back in 2017 when he was drafted out of Tennessee.

Looking Ahead

Philadelphia will travel to Cleveland on Sunday to take on the Cleveland Browns for an afternoon game. The Birds should see a glimpse of Browns quarterback Desean Watson, who got negative attention in Jacksonville last Friday. Watson is suspended for the first six games of the season, but the Browns want to play him as much as they can in the preseason. Davis and Dean played great against the Jets, so it is unknown how much playing time they will get in the game against Cleveland.

In Conclusion

So far through one preseason game, bringing Georgia to Philadelphia seems to be working out. Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni may have got it right, but we have to keep watching. As an Eagles fan, I also love Nick Sirianni’s intensity after the cheap hit that Jalen Hurts took. That also shows that he cares about his players and is a true Philadelphia coach.
