Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles:

Brayan Bello vs. Austin Voth

In a strange turn of events in the 2022 series the Baltimore Orioles are the one of these two teams fighting for a playoff spot while the Boston Red Sox are on the outside looking in and looking to play spoiler. Who will get the best of game one of this interdivision series tonight?

After getting swept by the Rays this week the Sox turn to young rookie starter Brayan Bello to turn the tide for the Sox today. On the season the rookie has a 5.91 ERA and a 4.09 xERA. He will be on the road tonight in Baltimore and when Bello is away from home at Fenway he has a 8.31 ERA and a WHIP of 2.25. He has looked better in his past few starts since spending a spell on the IL, but backing him up is not much relief at all in the Red Sox bullpen. In the past month the Sox pen has a 5.29 ERA which is good for 25th in the league.

On the other side for the O’s is Austin Voth on the mound with his 4.41 ERA and 4.26 xERA on the season. In the past month of August he had a 2.57 ERA in 28 innings pitched. He has been one of the main reasons this O’s team has kept it together down the stretch as he hasn’t allowed more than 3 ER in any start this season. He will have the O’s bullpens backing him up today that while are only 13th in the league with a 3.68 ERA, it is far superior to Boston’s pen.

One of these offenses still has something to play for and the other is just waiting for the end of the regular season to get here. Take the O’s to keep pushing forward and taking advantage of the rookie starter and bad bullpen of Boston.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers

Ross Stripling vs. Dane Dunning

Two streaking teams start a new series tonight against each other. The Blue Jays have won 7 of their last 9 while the Rangers have lost 9 of 10. Streaks are made to be broken though, will the Rangers turn the tide today to right the ship before the end of the season?

To start of todays game for the Rangers in an attempt to end a losing week will be Dane Dunning. On the season Dunning has a 4.37 ERA and a 4.44 xERA. He will be at home today in Dallas, and while there he has a 3.24 ERA. While he has been better at home, he has not been better as of late. In his last 14 total innings he has allowed 11 ER. Today he will be taking on a Blue Jays offense that, in the past week since they have been hot, rank 5th in all of baseball offensively with a team wOBA of .346.

On the other side for the Blue Jays is starter Ross Stripling who carries with him a season long ERA of 3.03 and an xERA of 3.42. In his last 4 starts he has totaled 24.1 innings pitched while allowing just 7 ER. Behind him in the Blue Jays bullpen is a top 5 unit. In the past month the Jays bullpen has a combined ERA of 2.68, good for 5th in all of baseball. This pitching staff will take on a Rangers offense that over the past week ranks dead last in all of baseball (30th) in team wOBA with a .224 average.

Betting this time of the baseball season is a lot of knowing who is still pushing to win games and who mentally is out of it. This is another good example of a team that needs to win to stay in the playoff race and the other that is out of it entirely. The Jays are playing like they want to win while the Rangers are not. Take the better pitcher, offense, and motivation to win this game.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Colorado Rockies:

Zach Davies vs. German Marquez

The bottom two teams of the NL West face off tonight in a battle of who is not the worst team in the division. Both are fighting for pride at this point and nothing more.

Starting off for the Dbacks on the mound will be Zach Davies. He brings with him an ERA of 3.74 and an xERA of 4.00 on the season. Over the past month of August though he had a 3.49 ERA and in his one start in September has a 1.93 ERA. He has faced this familiar foe of the Rockies three times already this season and in those starts he has totaled 16.1 innings pitched and allowed just 3 earned runs. He will be taking on a Rockies offense that over the past month is the WORST offense in baseball in terms of team wRC+ as they have a rating of 65 (league average 100). The are also 3rd worst in the league against righties like Davies with a team wOBA of .268.

On the other side for the home team Rockies is German Marquez. On the season thus fare he has a 4.86 ERA and a 4.56 xERA. When pitching at home in Coors Marquez doesn’t fare quite as well, as he has a 6.09 ERA at home this season. He has also faced his opponent tonight 3 times this year. In those outings he has gone 19 total innings and allowed 7 ER. He will be taking on a surprisingly hot Dbacks offense tonight. Arizona over the past month has hit right handers at a rate which is third best in all of baseball, with the likes of the Cardinals and Dodgers. Their third best team wOBA is .337 in the past month.

Both sides have below average bullpens so we are going to leave them out of todays bet entirely. Davies and Marquez don’t tend to go very long in games so the bullpens will be used heavily tonight. With the better numbers as of late and against their opponent tonight, take the Dbacks and Davies to win the first half of this game tonight and don’t worry about what the bullpens do.

CLE ML: The Twins are coming off a double header while the Guardians had the day off.

HOU RL, -1.5: Mccullers has been great since coming off the IL and the Angels offense is still sub-par.

TB ML: The Yankees are beat up right now and the Rays are hot, they’ll continue their winning ways tonight.
