5 Eagles Players Who Stood Out In Week 5
Welcome back! In this series we will be discussing five standout Eagles players from each week’s game. The Philadelphia Eagles are off to a 5-0 Eagles start, let’s take a look at who stood out in week 5!
Let’s Fly Eagles Nation!
Jalen Hurts
(26/36 for 239 yards passing, 15 carries for 61 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an 89.9 passer rating)
Jalen is the heart and soul of this team, I know that didn’t need said at this point, but he continues to display the leadership that we have heard so much about. His stats won’t “wow” you today, but he is the consistent driving force on this team and an early MVP candidate.

Dallas Goedert
(8 receptions for 95 yards)
The Arizona Cardinals could do nothing to stop Dallas Goedert on Sunday. It seems that no matter the opponent, Dallas Goedert will be a focal point on this team in crucial situations as Goedert converted first down after first down when Philly needed them. He’s simply too big for defensive backs and too fast for linebackers to cover. He’s a mismatch, and his utilization will be crucial for this team as the season continues.
The mentality is infectious:
“I don’t want to lose. I don’t know what it will feel like. I’m not ready for it. So we better keep winning” -Dallas Goedert on 5-0 Eagles 1on1 with Dallas on big 3rd down catch on game winning drive and how Jalen Hurts changed the play. DeVonta Smith
(10 receptions for 87 yards)
DeVonta Smith is on this list, not because he had an explosive day, but because he took big hit after big hit and continued to make catch after catch. With all the talk of him being “too small” he showed that he can play in this league and that his size has nothing to do with his ability to perform. His elite route running and ability to make all the catches cannot be overstated.

Cameron Dicker “The Kicker”
(2/2 on field goals and 2/2 on extra points)
Dicker The Kicker showed up in a huge way for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. He was signed this week after Jake Elliott came up questionable with an injury and ended up getting the nod. We’ve seen kickers lose games every week so we cannot underestimate the importance of his performance.

CJ Gardner-Johnson
(10 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 pass defended)
CJ had his best game in an Eagles uniform and showed why Howie Roseman traded for him this off-season. 10 tackles from a safety is something, we as Eagles fans, we couldn’t fathom in years past. Johnson showed off his coverage ability, his tackling prowess, and most of all, his genuine passion for the game. CJ has been a vital part of the defense all season but this was his game to show it.
This tweet from @thomasrp93 sums it up for the Eagles:
