2023 Transfer News: Josef Martinez Set For Inter Miami and Yann Sommer To Bayern Munich

The world of soccer is buzzing with excitement as a flurry of transfer activity has taken place, with some of the biggest names in the sport making moves to new clubs. The transfer market has been ablaze with action, from record-breaking transfer fees to surprise moves.

Confirmed Deals

Julian Ryerson

Borussia Dortmund is reportedly set to acquire Norwegian defender Julian Ryerson from Union Berlin, according to Sport 1. The two clubs have agreed to a transfer fee of around €5 million and the player is currently in negotiations regarding personal terms. The German team is also considering bringing in Manchester United’s Anthony Elanga on loan for the remainder of the season, but the final decision on this move is up to the coach, Erik ten Hag.

Josef Martinez

The accomplished Josef Martinez, who has won numerous accolades including MVP, MLS Cup, and the Golden Boot, has parted ways with Atlanta United after a successful six-year tenure. The individual, who is a Venezuela international, is now set to join the Miami team on a one-year contract. Although the 29-year-old has had some issues with fitness in the past, he has the potential to greatly impact the performance of Phil Neville’s squad as a forward.

Yann Sommer

The German champions have been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper since Manuel Neuer sustained an injury that will keep him out for the remainder of the current season. They have decided to bring in a Switzerland national as a replacement. The 34-year-old will be moving to the Allianz Arena on a contract that runs until the summer of 2025. The transfer fee for the deal is reported to be around $8.5 million, with the potential to reach over $10 million. Sommer is expected to undergo a medical examination by the club soon

Lucas Ocampos

The Argentine player has returned to Spain after a failed loan spell in the Netherlands during the first half of the season. The 28-year-old Ocampos is now rejoining the club where he played a pivotal role in winning the UEFA Europa League in the 2019-20 season, as they gear up for a crucial battle to avoid relegation in La Liga. Ocampos, who has previously played for Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco, is still under contract with the club until 2024.

Pablo Sarabia

The transfer of the Spain international to the Premier League team had been in the works for a few days and was finally announced and made official on Tuesday evening. Sarabia will be joining the team for a transfer fee of around $5.5 million and has signed a contract that runs until the summer of 2025 with the team coached by Julen Lopetegui.

In The Works

Depay-Yannick Swap

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid may be engaging in some winter transfer activity, with prominent agent Pini Zahavi proposing a player swap deal between the two clubs. He stated, “The plan is to exchange Ferreira Carrasco for Memphis Depay,” adding that, “It is not final yet and I don’t know if it will happen. We’re still in discussions and negotiations, and Yannick is open to the idea.”

Rafa Leo

The Italian champions, AC Milan, are eager to extend the contract of the Portugal international as soon as possible, with negotiations expected to take place in the near future. Leao is currently under contract until 2024 and is considered one of the top talents in Serie A. Milan is reportedly offering a net salary of around $7.5 million per season, with additional incentives included. It remains to be seen if this offer will be accepted by the 23-year-old.

Speculated Moves

Adrien Rabiot

The France international is reportedly expected to stay with Juventus for the remainder of the month, but will ultimately depart the club as a free agent this summer. Rabiot has been linked with a move to the Premier League and was previously a target for Manchester United. The 27-year-old had a standout performance representing France at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
