2022 Peach Bowl: Dawgs Will Stay Perfect

The 2022 Peach Bowl is one of the two games that will determine the CFP National Championship. After the Fiesta Bowl, we get a huge matchup with the Ohio State Buckeyes and the defending champion Georgia Bulldogs. A matchup between two teams with plenty of experience when it comes to the CFP.

A showdown between Stetson Bennett and CJ Stroud will be one to watch. With Georgia’s tough defense and Ohio States’ electric offense, this game will be the best and final game of the New Year’s Eve slate. Georgia is looking to repeat as champions but first, they must defeat Ohio State which will not be easy. That being said, let’s break down how the 2022 Peach Bowl will play out.

Heisman Candidate Matchup Will Be Electric

The matchup between Ohio State and Georgia is already a big one just by name. Throw in the matchup between Heisman finalists Stetson Bennett and CJ Stroud and you have a battle for the ages. Bennett has already climbed the mountain of college football once and has every piece to do so once again. Stroud is only a sophomore but he is NFL ready and wants to win it all to show he is the real deal.

Bennett might not have the receivers that Stroud has but he has enough to win games. He also has one of the best defenses in college football supporting him. Stetson is only throwing 12 less yards per game than CJ Stroud which is a surprise. These teams are so similar that there should be zero worry about Bennett stepping up and performing.

The main difference here is of course the receivers that Stroud has versus Bennett. Having Marvin Harrison Jr is a huge help especially against a tough Georgia defense. Stroud has an NFL level IQ on the field and that will be helpful against the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs Defense Will Win Them The Peach Bowl

Any time you have a defense that is allowing only 12 points per game, you win a lot. They are also allowing an FBS-low 77 rushing yards per game as well only 292 total yards per game (ninth best in the country). This defense might not be the historic group from 2021 but it is nothing short of dominant. Keeping CJ Stroud and company hemmed in will be the toughest task the Bulldogs have had all season. However, if they can pressure Stroud into mistakes, they will show why they are the true #1 seed.

The Peach Bowl will be the first time since 1992 that these teams have met. While both are experienced as far as winning championships, that is a long time between matchups. Georgia needs to use their experience on defense that has gotten them this far in two seasons. Sure Stroud is ready for the NFL but he still has to beat Georgia to get his resume punched. Look for the Dawgs to be unleashed in this game much like the 2021 CFP.

Final Prediction/Preview

This is going to be the best game we see on New Years Eve. We get two powerhouse programs who are both championship contenders clashing in the first round. Stroud versus Bennett will be the matchup to watch here as the two Heisman finalists both have something to prove. The Bulldogs defense is the real deal but so is the Ohio State defense.

Whoever can eliminate the big play threats will win this game. Every possession will need points to keep their heads above water. Ohio State might be a good team but Georgia is the top dog for a reason. Im taking Georgia to win with their experience and elite defense. It will be close for most of the game until the Dawgs pull away at the end and prove they are ready to repeat as champions in 2022 after winning the Peach Bowl.

Score Prediction: Georgia 34, Ohio State 24
