NFL training camp is just getting started which means the season is fast approaching. What are the expectations for each team? Here is the 2022 NFC East outlook.
The Philadelphia Eagles are coming into their 2022 training camp with high expectations as always. Nick Sirianni is entering his second season as head coach after finishing his first season on a high note by making the playoffs. However, the Birds did lose to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wildcard, but it was a step in the right direction.
The Eagles will enter the 2022 season with a talented roster on offense and defense. Philadelphia also has an exciting schedule and big games at home, especially the traditional NFC East opponents. The NFC East has underperformed recently, especially in the playoffs. One or two teams from the NFC East will usually make the playoffs and have an early exit.
With the Cowboys, we all know that they have their issues. It’s not that they don’t have a bad quarterback in Dak Prescot, it just seems he can’t stay healthy. The Cowboys are very talented on the ground game with Ezekiel Elliot and have receivers to throw to.
The Cowboys did win the NFC East last season, but they lost in the Wildcard round to the 49ers. I expect the Cowboys to be good and contend for the NFC East title. As of now, many still say Dallas is the favorite to win the division.
This season, Washington will have a different name as they will go by the Commanders. Washington made the playoffs in 2020, but it was an early exit by losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion, Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
A familiar face should be the starting quarterback for the Commanders as former Eagles and Colts signal caller, Carson Wentz, will be playing for Washington. The Commanders should win their opener against Jacksonville who has another familiar face in head coach Doug Pederson. The former Eagles coach will coach against Philly, Washington, Dallas, and New York this season. I expect Washington to be improved, but it depends on quarterback play with Carson Wentz.
New York Giants
Since Eli Manning retired from the Giants, they have had trouble finding their identity. Coaches have come and gone and Daniel Jones has struggled at the quarterback position.
Brian Daboll is in his first season as head coach with the Giants. He helped produce an excellent quarterback in Buffalo Bills QB, Josh Allen. I expect the Giants to progress after Daboll’s excellent track record as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Philadelphia Eagles 13-4 Dallas Cowboys 11-6 Washington Commanders 7-10 New York Giants 6-11
