2022 Giants Betting Preview: Saquon Barkley
With the 2022 NFL season nearly underway for the Giants, what are some betting lines for you to consider? We’re taking a look, this time with Saquon Barkley stat lines.
Saquon Barkley will be the New York Giants’ starting running back and he is entering the final year of his contract. Barkley is one of the most talented running backs in the NFL, but he has not lived up to his number two overall pick status because of injuries. He is also in a make-it-or-break-it season for the New York Giants.
He is being taken very high in fantasy football leagues though. General manager Joe Schoen is going to have to make a decision at the end of the 2022 regular season on whether or not he is going to need to sign him to a contract extension. There are betting props out on FanDuel Sportsbook for Saquon Barkley for the upcoming 2022 NFL season. What are some of the betting props for him though?
Notable Giants Betting Lines Surrounding Barkley In 2022
Rushing Yards: Over 900.5 rushing yards (-118)/Under 900.5 rushing yards (-108)
Saquon Barkley rushed for 1,000 yards in his first two NFL seasons, but he has hit a wall the last two years. In 2020, Barkley only had 34 yards rushing because he had a Torn ACL. In 2021, he only rushed for 593 yards.
The offensive line will look a lot better this season than it did last season. Mike Kafka is the new offensive coordinator and it looks like Saquon Barkley has rediscovered himself during training camp and in preseason games though.
Head coach Brian Daboll is looking to get the best out of him in 2022. They are going to pick their spots to run the football. Saquon Barkley may not reach 1,000 yards but rushing for over 900 yards this season feels very possible for him because he is on a contract year.
The pick: Over 900.5 rushing yards (-118)
Rushing Touchdowns: Over 6.5 touchdowns (-164)/Under 6.5 touchdowns (+128)
Saquon Barkley has only reached the over once in his four-year NFL career. He scored 11 rushing touchdowns during his rookie season in 2018. Barkley scored six touchdowns in 2019, zero touchdowns in 2020, and two touchdowns in 2021. It feels like he is destined to reach the end zone more often in 2022.
The numbers don’t seem to be in his favor to reach the over, but it feels like Saquon Barkley is going to benefit in this offensive-friendly offense. He is due for a big season and to reach the end zone more this season because the New York Giants are going to need it from him. This is why he was drafted second overall back in 2018 out of Penn State.
Saquon Barkley has the talent to reach the over and it seems like he will do it this season.
The pick: Over 6.5 touchdowns (-164)
Total Scrimmage Yards: Over 1300.5 yards (-112)/Under 1300.5 yards (-112)
This feels like a very high number for Saquon Barkley. So in order for this bet to hit, he needs a combination of rushing and receiving yards. He had over 2,000 during his rookie season, he had close to 1,500 in 2019, and he had under the total the last two seasons.
Saquon Barkley is going to be used a lot more this season in the passing game. He is very good at catching passes out of the backfield. Barkley may be able to extend his career because of his ability to catch passes out of the backfield instead of taking constant hits at the line of scrimmage.
The over in this situation feels inevitable to bet on. That’s the kind of year Saquon Barkley is going to have for the New York Giants coming up here.
The pick: Over 1300.5 yards (-112)
