2022-23 National Football League Preview: NFC South

Which National Football League team is going to win the NFC South this season?

There is more parity than ever before in the National Football League and this season is full of it. There are so many different teams who could take home the Lombardi trophy this season and most of them play in the AFC. The NFC does have its contenders but it is pretty thin for the first time in a long time. Regardless of what happens. It is sure to be a season full of incredible plays and incredible moments all culminating in one winner being crowned as Super Bowl champions in 2023.

Division winners are always a hot topic before the season starts and much like the super bowl winner, some of these division winners are hard to pick as well. Especially in such a loaded AFC where 13 out of the 16 teams could potentially end up as a division winning playoff team. That is certainly what I’m most looking forward to watching this season is how the teams in the AFC perform whereas the NFC is a little more cut and dry and you should know we expect to be the winners in that conference.

2022-23 National Football League Season Predictions-NFC

NFC South

Carolina Panthers

The brand new Baker Mayfield led Carolina Panthers will be looking to compete in year one of his tenure as they will hopefully have a healthy Christian McCaffrey back. Their defense certainly has the ability to get this team some much needed victories in a tough division against the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Bucs, and New Orleans Saints. However, I think Baker’s problems from last year will follow him down south to Carolina and his team will finish in third place of the division. As the only thing keeping them out of last place is a healthy Christian McCafferty and a decent defense as their quarterback issues will continue.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints have the potential to be the winning team in the NFC south if everything goes right for them and Jameis Winston remains healthy for a full season. Before he got hurt last year he had this team on track as one of the best teams in the NFC and all of the national football league but his injury change things rather quickly. A healthy Jameis Winston, Michael Thomas, and Alvin Kamara could spell disaster for the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Bucs, and Carolina Panthers defense this season. As well as when you throw in a rookie Chris Olave that has the opportunity to do some serious damage to defenses as well.

Tampa Bay Bucs

You can never count Tampa Bay out as long as Tom Brady is under Center and as long as their scary wide receiving core stays healthy. With weapons like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Cameron Brait, Julio Jones, and Russell Gage, this team has the ability to be one of the highest scoring offenses in the league. Their defense is a solid unit and should cause problems for a lot of teams on their schedule this season as well as the Tampa Bay Bucs are my current favorites to win this division as I think they will edge out the New Orleans Saints for first place.

Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons or the clear longshots to win this division but that doesn’t mean they don’t have some weapons like Kyle Pitts and Cordarrelle Patterson. With new quarterback Marcus Mariota stepping into the fold I just don’t think they have the ability to get it done this year. As I look for Atlanta to finish in fourth place in the NFC south.
