The Philadelphia Eagles and General Manager Howie Roseman were not expected to be quiet following the Eagles’ 53-man roster cutdowns, but they were unable to add any players via the waiver wire. That doesn’t mean there’s no news to look forward to, however. Here’s an updated look at what Philadelphia did the day after they announced their opening roster, and what changes have already been made.
Roseman will speak with the media at 3pm EST today.
Dameon Pierce was battling for a spot on the opening roster, but in the end the team opted to choose Will Shipley as the RB3. Pierce returns to the practice squad as a likely candidate to be elevated early in the NFL season.
Pierce has 1,684 rushing yards in his four seasons in the NFL. The former fourth-round pick has spent time with the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs. He will be entering his age-26 season.

Uar Bernard was snuck through waivers and has officially been signed back to the Eagles’ practice squad. This was one of the bigger storylines heading into today’s waiver wire transactions.
Bernard was a seventh-round pick this past April and has been working with the staff to try and make this switch to football work. Vic Fangio has noted that he is still very, very far away. Having him back on the practice squad should be a very large sigh of relief for the Eagles.

Andre Sam has been on a similar path each of the last few seasons. He is a key special teamer who provides decent depth at the safety position off the practice squad.
This season he will begin the year on IR following a leg injury suffered on Friday in the team’s final preseason game. The severity of the injury is unknown.

Gabe Hall was a victim of some serious depth at the DT position for Philadelphia. He was certainly a candidate to be claimed, so the Eagles should be happy to get him back on the practice squad.
Hall played in two games for Philadelphia last season.

Kiran Amegadjie is a huge external signing for the Eagles’ practice squad. He is a former third-round draft selection by the Chicago Bears. He hasn’t had a great start to his career, but the Eagles are taking a bet on his potential. This is a move that makes up for some of the other young tackles who the Eagles lost who were claimed off waivers.
Amegadjie was in a camp competition for the Bears starting LT job. He has versatility at multiple positions. He’s 6’5, 326 lbs.

Keyshawn James-Newby was another seventh-round pick this season that did not make the Eagles opening 53-man roster. They are able to retain him on the practice squad as they look to continue developing him as a pass rusher.
