The Philadelphia Eagles still have some work to do around the edges of their roster before Week 1. One of their biggest remaining concerns is replacing the size and physicality lost at wide receiver with the departure of A.J. Brown.
The Cleveland Browns recently released Cedric Tillman, a WR who is 6’3, 215 lbs. Let’s take a look at who Tillman is, and why he could be a perfect fit for Philadelphia.
Tillman is a WR entering his fourth year in the NFL. He was drafted in the third round in 2023 out of Tennessee by the Cleveland Browns.
Tillman is still just 26 years old and has shown that he can be a capable WR in the NFL.
Over three seasons, Tillman has over 800 receiving yards and 71 receptions. His profile identifies him as a physical receiver with good speed for his size.
Tillman has a good catch radius and has always succeeded in making catches in traffic. This, combined with his size and blocking ability, makes him an ideal WR4 in today’s NFL.
Tillman had been pushed down the depth chart in Cleveland as they continuously tried to get younger at the position. It is safe to say he has more potential than what he showed with the Browns, and whoever signs him could be getting a really valuable piece.
The Eagles receiver room is severely lacking size heading into the 2026 season. They do not have a WR on the roster that is taller than 6’1.
Devonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks are 6’0 and 6’1, respectively, and they are the only two above six feet tall in the entire room. Wicks and 5’11 Darius Cooper are the only ones over 200 pounds.
The departure of AJ Brown will have a major impact on the Eagles’ redzone offense. He had a target share of 28.9% inside the 20 last season, the highest on the team. Smith and Dallas Goedert were second and third, and each of their workloads is expected to be increased near the goal line. Still, replacing nearly 30% of your redzone targets is a tall task to do with such small receivers.
Tillman would immediately become one of the Eagles’ redzone options, inserting a physical presence on the outside near the goal line. He doesn’t need to dominate the target share like AJ Brown, but providing another option for Jalen Hurts would be greatly beneficial.

Hollywood Brown has not had a very good camp for the Eaglesand had been noted as someone who could be on the roster bubble. Is there a chance Philadelphia swaps him out for Tillman before week one? It certainly seems like that could be in play.
Tillman provides some blocking from the receiver position, another key thing that the Eagles WR room lacks. Johnny Wilson was the best blocker prior to being waived.
In the end, Philadelphia would look much better going into the 2026 season with Tillman as the WR4. He brings a skill set that the Eagles are lacking in right now. Could Howie Roseman make a move to add to the offense before week one?
