The Philadelphia Eagles have officially placed starting LG Landon Dickerson on injured reserve Monday afternoon, keeping him out of action for at least four games. The news comes with a reported knee injury, and his performance against the Washington Commanders was clearly not him at 100%. Jeff McLane was the first to report the news, Adam Schefter noted that it is a knee injury that is the cause for the IR stint for Dickerson.
Dickerson has been battling injuries throughout his entire career, and it seems that trend will continue into 2026. He was one of the worst players on the field on Sunday for Philadelphia; now it’s evident as to why.
Dickerson has always been more of a power blocker than a finesse type of interior lineman, but he could barely move at all against Washington. The offense, specifically the run game, struggled mightily because of this.
His abscence will be an interesting one, as now we get to see if he is the best option for the future of this team. Could his starting job be in jeopardy because his skill set doesnt fit the new offensive scheme?
Drew Kendall and Willie Lampkin are the two favorites to get the start at LG in Dickerson’s absence. Both showed really good potential in camp and seem to fit the offensive scheme that Sean Mannion brought in better than Dickerson.
Lampkin is a really fun story, he’s a 5’11 interior lineman who showed out in training camp. He has not been given a major opposing the NFL yet, but that could soon change.
This will likely be a temporary change at the position until Dickerson is fully healthy, but it does raise some questions about the future at the position. Dickerson reportedly contemplated retirement this offseason due to recurring injuries. Could this have any effect on that conversation?
If Lampkin of Kendall perform well in a substitute role, is there a situation where Dickerson does lose his starting job? All of these questions will be answered in the coming weeks.
