Both the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams are making strong pushes to land Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown. The sweepstakes continue.
The Rams tried to trade for Brown before trading for cornerback Trent McDuffie. If a deal happens, it would be one of the biggest WR moves of the offseason.
Los Angeles going after Brown in the offseason insinuates that it’s Super Bowl or bust. Quarterback Matthew Stafford would have a WR trio of Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, and Brown. The Rams have two good tight ends in Tyler Higbee and Cody Parkinson, as well as a great running back tandem of Kyren Williams and Blake Corum.
Los Angeles still has its own players to extend, and Brown is due nearly $23.4 million in 2026. This would be a waste of cap space and draft picks.
Philadelphia would not trade Brown to another NFC powerhouse like the Rams if they have Super Bowl aspirations. If the Eagles want to move on from Brown, they would send him to a team where they could get the most value.
Brown’s joining the Patriots stems back to his relationship with Mike Vrabel. Brown enjoyed the time with Vrabel as his head coach with the Tennessee Titans.
Brown grew up as a diehard New England fan and cried when the team did not draft him in 2019. He would have had the opportunity to play with quarterback Drake Maye and team up with another wide receiver, Romeo Doubs.
The trade talks could turn into a huge bidding war for Brown. Both New England and Los Angeles would be scary if one of them got their hands on Brown and lured him away from Philadelphia.
When two serious teams keep pushing for the same receiver, that tells people everything about how Brown is viewed around the league. He is not just a big name, but a true difference-maker who can change the shape of an offense the moment he arrives.
