The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Wisconsin Badgers now know when they will officially face off. The date is set for September 6th, 2026, at Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers.
During the fall of 2020, Wisconsin and Notre Dame were ready to square off at Lambeau Field.
The only problem was the coronavirus — something everyone had become accustomed to hearing about. All major sports were being shut down, and football was no exception. That meant the October 3rd, 2020, matchup at Lambeau Field wouldn’t be played.
For years, they waited to reschedule it. Will the game ever be played? That’s what many thought who wanted to see the historic matchup. On March 21st, 2025, they got their answer. The game was on, barring any unforeseen circumstances. It will be the first college game played at Lambeau since 2016, which also featured Wisconsin.
Many fans will be eager to see this game against two powerhouse programs. Notre Dame will try to continue cementing their place in college football as a perennial playoff contender. The Badgers, on the other hand, are trying to rebound after a tough 2024 and a difficult 2025 schedule, with Alabama looming in Week Three.
Notre Dame will be the presumptive favorite in this game. It will be interesting to see how Wisconsin improves in 2025, if at all, and whether they can hang with ND. The Fighting Irish have been near the top of the college football rankings these past few years, and 2026 shouldn’t be any different.
The Badgers will certainly have their work cut out for them, but a lot can change between now and then.
With the game being almost a year and a half away, the teams have to be focused on 2025. The fans will need to buy their tickets fast, and they are sure to sell quickly.
