The Minnesota Wild have become infamous for bringing in guys from their home state. Guys like Brock Faber and Zach Parise became fan favorites because of this. As the trade deadline rapidly approaches, two Minnesota natives will be on the trade block. Brock Boeser and Brock Nelson find themselves on the cusp of being traded.

Wild Potentially Have Extra Spending Money

Superstar Kirill Kaprizov hasn’t been placed on LTIR yet, but he could very well be there soon. Bill Guerin announced that the winger would be out for longer than expected.

“I think he’s going to be out longer than we originally expected. How much, I cannot answer,” Guerin said. “I just don’t know, we’ll see how he progresses. That’s really where we’re at.”

On the bright side, this could give Minnesota a bit extra spending money to make a move at the trade deadline. With a gaping hole at the second-line right winger position, the Wild should look to fill that gap to bolster the lineup come playoff time. There’s no shame in not taking advantage of a loophole used by plenty of other teams.

Minnesota Needs To Make A Move

Teams in the West aren’t playing around this season. Teams like the Stars, Avs, and Canucks have already made trades to help give their franchise the best shot at a cup run. Even with the Kaprizov injury, the Wild have yet to move. While it’s unlikely that Kaprizov will miss the postseason, Minnesota should still look to add to their lineup. Both Boeser and Nelson would be great additions to the lineup.

Brock Boeser – The Perfect Fit

Boeser, originally from MN, could be a great trade deadline grab.

Boeser currently looks like the perfect fit for the Wild. He would slide into the second line alongside Joel Eriksson Ek and Marcus Johansson. Currently, Boeser has 35 points in 48 games for the Canucks, and they are having trouble finding a contract agreement.

The consensus, according to Thomas Drance of The Athletic, is that if the Canucks can’t find an agreement with Boeser by the March 7 trade deadline, he will be dealt. The package for Boeser would most likely have to include a high-round pick alongside at least a B-level prospect.

Brock Nelson – Coming Home?

Brock Nelson has been linked to the Wild ahead of the trade deadline.

Brock Nelson wouldn’t be the most organic fit for the Wild, but would still be a great addition nonetheless. Originally from Warroad, Minnesota, Nelson would likely fit into the third-line center spot or be converted to a winger. This would undoubtedly help the Wild with depth and veteran leadership. The price to acquire Nelson would likely require trading away a prospect like Riley Heidt or Carson Lambos and perhaps an additional mid-round pick.

End Of My Minnesota Wild Trade Deadline Rant

In my opinion, I believe that Brock Boeser would be the best option for the Wild. Adding him would make the Wild quite an intimidating team down the stretch. With potentially a little extra LTIR money, this is the perfect opportunity for the Wild to make a splash addition to an already quality roster.
