Week Fifteen of the 2024 NFL season is here. As always, I will start by discussing the rules for a survivor pool. It is a weekly contest where people select one team per week, straight up, to win their game.
If a chosen team wins, it advances to the next week, but remember that the selected team can’t be used for the rest of the season. If a team they chose for that week loses, it is eliminated from the pool.
Now that the rules are set, it is time for me to give my top three options: a risky pick, a trap pick, and a survivor pick that I would have made if I were still alive in Survivor. It would have been nice for Cincinnati to prepare for their first regular-season game
1). Baltimore Ravens (at New York Giants)
At this point in the season, taking any team against the New York Giants is a good strategy in Survivor for the rest of the season. They are the worst team in the league, and it’s not even close. This week, the Baltimore Ravens face them, and this should be a piece of cake for the Ravens. After all, many fans and analysts call them Superbowl contenders. If they want to prove that they should dominate the Giants. I expect them to win this game by 2 – 3 touchdowns.
2). Washington Commanders (@ Saints)
So, with Derek Carr injured, who are the options for starting for the Saints? According to Bing, Jake Haener or Spencer Rattler will start for them. Either option doesn’t impress, and neither looks good in the snaps they have played. Washington should take care of business in this game, and they are a solid choice for survivor pools. It’s either now or in Week 17 against the Atlanta Falcons (Oh, we will get to Atlanta).
3). Arizona Cardinals V Patriots
The Arizona Cardinals are a weird football team. They look like they could win the division at one point, but at other points, they are the definition of a mediocre football team. Well, this week, they get to face a terrible Patriots team that is all but in tank mode since being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. With how competitive the NFC West is, every game will matter, and Arizona needs to win this game, which it should.
4.) Ricky Pick – New York Jets (@ Jaguars)
Fun Fact: this is the game I titled “The Game I Can Never Loose”. Why? Well, it’s because these franchises are my two favorites in the NFL. My number 1 team is the New York Jets, and My Number 2 Team is the Jacksonville Jaguars. Later in 2025, I will tell the story of why I have a close attachment to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but no matter what, I can’t lose in this game. No matter what, one of my favorite teams will win this week.
As for this game, where can we even begin with this Tank Bowl? The Jets may be a dysfunctional franchise, but they are a more talented team than this Jaguars team. Plus, Jacksonville is coming off a surprising win against the Titans, and they barely escaped that game against the 2nd worst team in the league. If you are desperate for options, The Jets are a solid choice, but be careful fading a dysfunctional franchise that has awful coaching. No offense to Jeff Ulbrich, but he’s way over his head as the head coach
2024 Risky Survivor Pick History (8-6) – Week 1: Minnesota Vikings, Week 2: Washington Commanders, Week 3: San Francisco 49ers, Week 4: Tennessee Titans, Week 5: New England Patriots, Week 6: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Week 7: Jacksonville Jaguars, Week 8: Arizona Cardinals, Week 9: New Orleans Saints, Week 10: New York Giants, Week 11: Green Bay Packers, Week 12: Houston Texans, Week 13: Dallas Cowboys, Week 14 Chicago Bears
5). Trap Pick – Atlanta Falcons (@ Raiders)
Gosh, this seems like an easy game to pick, with the Raiders starting Desmond Ridder at QB. However, it’s the definition of trap, especially with this game being a bad spot for them and with how terrible Atlanta has been playing lately, and it’s hard to trust them. Also, what’s going on with Kirk Cousins? He has looked awful in the last four games where he hasn’t thrown a touchdown. Cousins has thrown eight picks in the past four games which is not great.
Something else that feels tragic about this game is Atlanta’s defense. They have been so lackluster all season, and the secondary has been a mess lately. The Falcons also struggle against Tight Ends, and this could be a big Brock Bowers game as well. While the Raiders are terrible, avoiding picking this game in Survivor is better. If you want to use Atlanta, wait until next week. They will be home and face the New York Giants.
2024 Trap Survivor Pick History (4-10) – Week 1: Buffalo Bills, Week 2: Indianapolis Colts, Week 3: Seattle Seahawks, Week 4: Philadelphia Eagles, Week 5: Chicago Bears, Week 6: Buffalo Bills, Week 7: Cincinnati Bengals, Week 8: New York Jets, Week 9: Baltimore Ravens, Week 10: Philadelphia Eagles, Week 11: New York Jets, Week 12: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Week 13: Houston Texans Week 14 Cincinnati Bengals
6). Who I Would Have Taken – Baltimore Ravens
Yeah, it’s a brainer for me. I have saved the Baltimore Ravens for a reason: this game. After all, the Giants are the worst team in the NFL. Washington is another nice pick, too, but I like them against Atlanta in Week 17. Arizona is a solid choice, too, against a bad Patriots team. If you want to go risky and take a dysfunctional franchise, the Jets are that team. Not for me; I’m taking Baltimore and moving on.
2024 My Survivor Pick History (9-5) – Week 1: Cincinnati Bengals, Week 2: Los Angeles Chargers, Week 3: Las Vegas Raiders, Week 4: Tennessee Titans, Week 5: New England Patriots, Week 6: Philadelphia Eagles, Week 7: Los Angeles Rams, Week 8: Denver Broncos, Week 9: New Orleans Saints, Week 10: Chicago Bears, Week 11: Detroit Lions, Week 12: Kansas City Chiefs, Week 13: Dallas Cowboys, Week 14 Miami Dolphins
