The 2024 NFL Fantasy Football season is dwindling down as some leagues will begin their playoffs this week while others are concluding the regular season. With millions of players needing a huge win this week, ensuring the best guys are starting in their lineup is essential. Six teams are on bye, and stars like Jonathan Taylor, Lamar Jackson, Brian Robinson Jr, Joe Mixon, Nico Collins, and Jayden Daniels will be off. Need someone to fill in this week? Looking for a sleeper pick? Are you trying to avoid a player that might bust? Here are four players to start or sit this week in fantasy football.
NFL Fantasy Sit: Kyler Murray (Vs. SEA)
Kyler Murray was one of the top-drafted quarterbacks in this year’s fantasy draft. While he is still a top-ten fantasy quarterback this year, he has not had big numbers like most had expected these last few weeks. After starting the season with four games of 20+ points or more in the first eight games, Murray has only hit that mark once since Week 9. While he did have his best outing of the season against the Jets (28.74 points), he has hit under 16 points in every other game.
He had a solid week against Minnesota with 15.20 points, which would have been closer to 20 if he had not thrown two picks, but he will now face the Seattle Seahawks for the second time in three weeks. In his outing against Seattle, his offense was held to six points, while Murray only finished with 285 yards and a pick. It has been rough for the Cardinals since their bye week during their two-game losing streak, and they will now face a must-win game if they want to stay alive in the NFC West division race. Murray will likely have another solid game but don’t expect the 27-year-old to post explosive numbers in Week 14.
Start: D’Andre Swift (at SF)
It has been an up-and-down season for D’Andre Swift. After once having five straight games of 14.20+ fantasy points earlier this season, Swift has failed to hit double-digits in three of his last four games. But there is still hope for Swift fantasy owners, who should start the former Eagle this week. While he only had just above nine points in the last two weeks (against two of the best defenses against running backs), Swift has a great matchup this week against the 49ers, who just allowed the Buffalo Bills to rush for 220 yards on Sunday night.
After not allowing a 100-yard rusher all season, San Francisco has allowed two straight running backs to hit the century mark. Not only that, but these backs have also been hitting the end zone lately. While James Cook only had one score last week, Josh Jacobs ran for three touchdowns two weeks ago. Chicago will be fired up following the firing of Matt Eberflus, which could make this a huge day for D’Andre Swift.
Sit: Davante Adams (at MIA)
It has been a rough season for Davante Adams and the New York Jets, who are 3-9 and have had their playoff hopes all but dashed. But is starting the former All-Pro a good idea for fantasy managers whose playoff chances are alive? Since his trade to New York, Davante Adams and the Jets offense has statistically been better at home. Last week, he was targeted twelve times and finished with five catches for 42 yards and a touchdown in the home loss versus Seattle. But now they will head to Miami facing a Dolphins squad that desperately needs a win.
Adams has played three road games this season, falling below ten points in each. He will also be lined up against a Dolphins defense that has only allowed one wide receiver to surpass 100 receiving yards this season. In last week’s loss at Green Bay, Miami only allowed ten or more fantasy points to three receiving players for the Packers: Tucker Kraft (tight end), Josh Jacobs (running back), and Jayden Reed (wide receiver). Reed’s success only came off two touchdown receptions. This week’s matchup for Davante Adams is tough.
Start: Isiah Pacheco (vs LAC)
Isiah Pacheco finally returned against the Raiders last week after missing nine games. While he only had seven fantasy points, he averaged 6.3 yards per carry and looked like the better running back. Kareem Hunt remains a threat in the backfield, but Pacheco appears to be the lead back entering Week 14. This is excellent news for Pacheco’s fantasy owners, as he was one of the top fantasy running backs entering this season.
While Pacheco has a tough matchup against the Chargers this week, who have been one of the best defenses in the NFL this season, he is getting them at the right time. Last week, LA allowed Bijan Robinson to rush for over 100 yards and allowed Baltimore’s rushing unit to accumulate over 200 the week before. Even if he does not have a lot of rushing yards, he should get a couple of looks in the end zone this week. It’s time to start Isiah Pacheco!
