With the New York Yankees already carrying a loaded roster, they also boast an efficient pool of prospects in their minor league farm system. A handful of them are reaching their potential and are on track to earn their way to the Major Leagues.

Even with an exceptional-hitting lineup, the team still needs to improve its starting and relief pitching. The team may have to sacrifice one or more veteran players via a trade, which could open space for any of these prospects to join the team.

Let’s take a look at the minor league prospects ready to make their leap to the Majors.

1. New York Yankees- Eric Reyzelman (Pitcher)

New York Yankees Pitching Prospect Eric Reyzelman

The No. 21 rated prospect in the New York Yankees’ farm system, Reyzelman, is an early riser just like a Sunday morning sunrise. Leapfrogging from rookie ball to Double-A Somerset, the righty pitched to a sparkling 1.16 ERA with a .136 opponent batting average.

He also struck out an astounding 63 batters in just 38.2 innings. This year, he climbed up to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre with a 2.45 ERA and a .136 opponent batting average.

The 23-year-old also struck out 17 batters in 14.2 innings. Despite a potentially loaded bullpen when its injured pitchers return from the IL, his quick rise to AAA should earn him his first MLB call-up, possibly in September.

2. New York Yankees- T.J. Rumfield (First baseman)

While Rumfield isn’t among the New York Yankees’ top 30 prospects, he has shown he can rise up and play with the best young guns. The 24-year-old ended his 2024 season batting .294 with an .824 OPS. He also hit 15 home runs in 449 at-bats between Double-A and Triple-A.

This season, all with Triple-A, Rumfield has a .305 batting average and a .938 OPS. He’s hit six home runs in 115 at-bats.

Rumfield’s issue getting to the MLB is not performance-based. It involves Paul Goldschmidt at first base and Ben Rice as the heir-apparent.

Look for Rumfield to be a backup first baseman with the Yankees next year or make his MLB debut this year with a different team.

3. New York Yankees- Everson Pereira (Outfielder)

The New York Yankees’ No. 12 prospect has a reputation for being a tremendous power hitter, but has also been modifying it to be an all-around hitter. While constantly putting up .300+ batting averages in the minors, Pereira has generally relied on the home run ball for his production.

This year, he leads Scranton/Wilkes Barre with eight home runs, while hitting .289 with a .948 OPS. He is also quite a speedster, as he stole 21 bases back in 2022.

The 24-year-old made his New York Yankee debut in 2023 but was optioned after a slow start to his career. Last season, a barking elbow injury kept him out for most of the year, and his numbers dropped as a result of the setback.

Look for Periera to possibly earn another call-up to the Yanks this season, with the idea circling around Giancarlo Stanton and the probability of him being traded for another team’s starting pitcher.

End Of My New York Yankees Rant

While the Yankees have many other exciting prospects moving up the farm system, these three players in Triple-A will have the first dibs at a callup should something change to the roster.

Be patient, Yankees fans. Getting excited for them is great, but having the patience to wait for them to develop is a virtue even in an instant-gratification society.

Also, just because their batting averages are close to Aaron Judge’s, keep in mind that they are in the minors, and when they make their MLB debut, it’s a huge jump.
