The projected NBA stat leaders for the 2026-27 NBA season have been heavily altered following some of the offseason moves made by contenders. Let’s take a look at who could lead the league in each major statistical category.
2026-27 NBA PPG Leader: Luka Doncic (33 PPG)

Luka Doncic led the league in PPG last season, and the shot volume should only increase. The Los Angeles Lakers will lean on him heavily for the offense, especially with LeBron James gone.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Anthony Edwards will likely be the players giving Doncic the biggest fight for the scoring title.
2026-27 NBA Rebounding Leader: Donovan Clingan (13 RPG)

Donovan Clingan is a prime breakout candidate this season for the Portland Trailblazers. He should be able to play more minutes this season, and he’s already proven to be a dominant rebounder.
Nikola Jokic and Rudy Gobert should be the biggest competitors for most rebounds per game in the 2026-27 NBA season.
2026-27 NBA Assist Leader: LeBron James (11 APG)

LeBron James could easily produce career highs in assists during his first season on the Philadelphia 76ers. He could realistically control the entire offense with elite scorers all over. Him averaging 11 assists can’t be ruled out.
Jokic and Tyrese Haliburton are the typical candidates to lead the league in assists. LeBron is the wildcard that could go either way.
2026-27 NBA Steals Leader: Dyson Daniels (2.5 SPG)

Dyson Daniels leading the league in steals isn’t as likely as it normally would be entering the next season. His minutes and role could be altered following the Lu Dort trade.
Ausar Thompson is again going to be the main competitor for the steals crown. His role will be heavily dependent on what other additions the Detroit Pistons make this offseason. As of now, there’s a chance he averages 1.5 steals a game or 3.5 steals a game. He’s a real wildcard.
2026-27 NBA Block Leader: Victor Wembanyama (4 BPG)

Victor Wembanyama, barring any serious injuries, will lead the league in blocks once again next season. There is no competition for this title. The only question is how many can Wemby average through an entire season. He’s been around three blocks a night for his entire career. Maybe this season is the first time he eclipses the four blocks a game mark.
