MLB rumors continue to pile in as the trade deadline nears. The Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, and Pittsburgh Pirates are today’s featured teams on the rumor mill. Let’s take a look at what’s being heard around the league.
New York Yankees Interested In Mason Miller

Mason Miller could potentially be on the move again this trade deadline. Rumors have been circulating over the past week indicating that the San Diego Padres may move the star closer.
If they decide to trade Miller, the Yankees will be all over it. They sense an opportunity to make themselves a World Series contender; don’t be surprised if they go all in.
It was also reported early this week that the Yankees could finally be willing to trade top prospects Jasson Dominguez and Spencer Jones in the right trade.
Acquiring Miller would require at least one, if not both, of these players. If the Yankees are serious, this would be the time to show it.
Philadelphia Phillies Actively Pursuing Starting Pitching

Jim Salisbury (7/20) NBC Sports Philadelphia
The Phillies need a starter after the failure of Andrew Painter, the poor-performing Aaron Nola, and the lack of depth in the system.
They have tried to use many different players and methods to fix this, but none have been able to. Alan Rangel was given more than enough opportunities. They’ve gone through multiple bullpen games, also not working with their inconsistent relievers.
Salisbury did not give any names or list any candidates, but let’s take a look at some players who could fill that void.

Pittsburgh Pirates Plan To Be Aggressive At Trade Deadline

Bob Nightengale (7/19) USA Today
Nightengale didn’t go too deep in this report, but he did mention one key detail.
He stated that, once again, they aren’t willing to increase payroll. They will attempt to make aggressive moves, preferably bullpen, but won’t spend to get it done.
Nightengale also mentioned some form of ownership mandate to make the postseason this year.
Classic Pirates, but let’s think about which cost-controlled relievers they could target.
