Max Iheanachor is one of the more interesting offensive tackle prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft. The 6’6″, 321 pound tackle from Arizona State could sneak into the back end of the first round with his impressive athleticism and strength combination.

Iheanachor has not had a traditional football upbringing. After coming to the USA as a 13-year-old, he did not participate in high school football. His journey to the NFL started in college, and he started all 14 games in his first season in 2024. His 2025 season brought continued improvement, as he allowed zero sacks on over 450 passing blocking reps.

Strengths

Iheanachor blew people away with his testing; his RAS score was a 9.86. This score ranked 24th out of 1642 offensive tackles since 1987. His freakish athleticism does not go unnoticed on tape either.

Iheanachor has some of the quickest anyone will see from someone of his size. His athleticism carries him from rep to rep, and his fundamentals keep coming along as he becomes more experienced.

Iheanachor has played against some of this draft class’s elite EDGE rushers in his college career. Every time he has encountered one, he impresses. Players like David Bailey, Malachi Lawrence, and Romello Height, all of whom are projected to go in the first three rounds were shut down.

Weaknesses

Iheanachor has a few weaknesses as his game continues to develop. Some of the things he needs to work on can quickly be resolved with a good NFL coaching staff. He is somewhat of a project, so giving him time to develop is a must.

After the fundamentals are cleaned up, Iheanachor will need to focus on his run blocking. It has lagged behind his pass protection so far, marking his only major potential concern. Apart from that, the ability is there for this to be a home-run selection by someone late on day one.

End Of My Max Iheanachor NFL Draft Rant

Iheanachor will be drafted based on upside more than current talent, but that upside is through the roof. The late first round may seem like a reach when looking at the major big boards, but it makes sense for teams to jump at such an athlete.
