Several reports are claiming that Manchester United are still interested in RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons. There is, however, the fact that RB Leipzig’s pricing price might be difficult to meet.
Xavi Simons’ talent was clear to RB Leipzig, who first signed him on a loan deal coming from Paris Saint-Germain.
It was Simons’ talent that convinced RB Leipzig to make the deal a permanent one. They managed to do that recently with a €50 million transfer.
Now, United are looking to sign Simons, but they might not be able to meet RB Leipzig’s asking price.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Sky Sports Germany’s reporter, if Manchester United want to sign Simon, they would have to pay €80m.
This is the asking price set by RB Leipzig, who aren’t ready to let go of Simons easily. Plettenberg, however, reports that Simons leaving is still a possibility.
Simons’ contract with RB Leipzig will last until 2027, which makes it difficult for United or any other club to negotiate.
The German side will want to benefit from Simons, so they might not be open to lowering their asking price.
It doesn’t help that Simons’ performance has attracted interest from other clubs. In 25 appearances, he scored eight goals and had five assists.
This kind of performance gives RB Leipzig the chance to ask for what they want from any interested clubs such as Manchester United.
Manchester United’s interest in Simons has been going on for a long time now. They have reportedly been interested in him since Erik ten Hag was in charge.
It is, however, kind of foolish that Manchester United are after a player as expensive as Simons.
With their current financial situation, which isn’t looking that great, the club needs to have more realistic goals.
With Simons’ talent, it is expected that other clubs would be interested in him. Some of the reported clubs interested in him include Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
Which club would manage to sign Simons depends on two things: who would meet RB Leipzig’s asking price and who would convince the 21-year-old to join them.
With Manchester United’s current struggles, they need better options. Their financial situation, however, is restricting them and a deal for Simons is probably impossible.
