There is a lot of doubt about Ruben Amorim’s future at Manchester United. That only increased after the team’s most recent defeat against Tottenham in the Europa League final. Now, the head coach spoke out about whether he will stay at the club or leave.

What Did Amorim Say?

Following the heartbreaking defeat, Amorim said that he doesn’t plan to quit and leave Manchester United. He would, however, leave if the club wanted him to leave and believed he wasn’t the right man for the job.

According to The Athletic, Amorim said about United’s recent performances, “I am not going to talk about the future. Tonight, we need to deal with the pain of losing this match. Today was really poor. I think I am always honest with you guys. I have nothing to show to the fans, so at this moment it is a little bit of faith.”

The head coach then talked about his future at the club. “Let’s see (about my future). I am always open. If the board and fans feel I am not the right guy, I will go in the next day without any conversation about compensation, but I will not quit. I am really confident in my job. And as you see, I will not change anything in the way I do things.”

Despite the terrible season, Amorim insists that he is the right guy for the team. “I’m confident that I’m still the guy. More (confident) than the beginning. I know that it will be tough. We lost against an English team. The patience of the fans will be really short next season but I guarantee I will not quit or go away. I am really confident,” he said.

The Players Believe in Amorim

While Manchester United fans might not be happy with Amorim at the moment, the players have a different opinion.

Despite the many losses the team suffered this season, almost all players want Amorim to stay. Even Bruno Fernandes talked after the match about how the head coach was the right man for the job. It seems like this sentiment is shared by everyone in the locker room.

Should Amorim Be Given A Chance?

This season might be one of the club’s worst seasons, but that doesn’t mean that next season would be the same.

Yes, the club sits in the 16th position in the league which is far from what fans want. There is, however, some hope that Amorim can change things around.

The club should give the head coach another chance as they prepare for next season and try to forget this one. He believes in himself and the players believe in him. It might be difficult to find another coach whom players will actually like and want to listen to.

There is no doubt that Amorim is a good coach, but sometimes things happen. If he brought in players that he actually wants, he might prove to everyone that he is the right man for the job.

End Of My Manchester United Rant

I would like to see Amorim stay at Manchester United. This season might have been far from great, but I think that next season would be a different deal. He might return the club to its former glory if given another chance.
