Manchester City’s recent struggles had some good moments such as the performance of Abdukodir Khusanov whom Pep Guardiola is praising.
Manchester City’s recent signing of Abdukodir Khusanov is proving to be fruitful with the defender already impressing Guardiola.
The £34m signing had a rough start as he made a costly mistake against Chelsea on his debut.
Despite this, Khusanov showed his quality as he managed to get past the criticism and prove himself. It was to the point where Guardiola had to praise him for his performance against Spurs.
The match ended with a clean sheet for Manchester City.
Following his great performance, Guardiola praised Khusanov. According to Manchester City’s official website, Guardiola is already pleased with the defender’s skills. He even talked about him in the post-match press conference.
“What I like is that Khusanov’s already incredibly liked in the dressing room! To face Spurs, he traveled with no wash bag, no nothing. He arrived to play football and when you talk to him, he just laughs, all the time! But he’s a reliable player, so fast, so quick, with ball the quality of pass is extraordinary. He breaks lines, has ability to do it.”
In addition to praising the defender Guardiola also commented on his belief that Khusanov will improve in the future.
“Of course he has to improve, but he’s 20, so young. I’ve seen players with a lot of pace, he is one of them. People adore him; he’s silent, works, no complaints, so humble, and I’m pretty sure our fans will love him too. It’s not easy to overcome his first impact vs Chelsea, what happened. But he was so calm the days after, and the games he’s played recently have been really good.”
Khusanov shouldn’t be judged based on his performance against Chelsea. After all, he is still young. In most recent matches, he started to show his quality. People are already expecting him to change the quality of Manchester City’s defensive line.
“The games he’s played recently, he’s been really, really good,” said Guardiola about the defender. The future is certainly bright for Khusanov.
Whether Khusanov’s performance will be enough to turn things around for Manchester City or not, he still has a lot ahead of him. Fans should be patient with the new signing and hope for the best.
