Week Two of the NFL featured thrilling games and unfortunate injuries. This caused major changes in these power rankings. The team rankings are provided by Fox Sports, and player stats by the NFL.
After being blown out in Week One, the offense bounced back for 27 points this week against the New England Patriots. The issue is that the team has allowed 33 points for the second game in a row. Their offense has been inconsistent, and their defense has been consistently poor, so far this season.
Panthers’ quarterback Bryce Young had a much more productive game in Week Two of the NFL, but it wasn’t enough to carry them to victory. They allowed the Arizona Cardinals to get up 27-9 going into the fourth quarter, so the 27-22 final isn’t indicative of that game as a whole.
Titans’ rookie quarterback Cam Ward has been underwhelming over his first two games in the NFL, and last year’s intimidating defense has yet to show up. Ward has just one touchdown over the first two games, and last year’s second-best defense ranks 27th at this early point of the season.
For some, the Saints were the team with the lowest expectations in the NFL heading into the season. The team is still appalling, but both losses have been in one-score games. The offense is outperforming expectations, yet there is still nothing to be concerned about.
After giving up the lead late in Week One, the Bears became a punching bag for the rebounding Detroit Lions. While the offense has been unimpressive, they actually have averaged 22.5 PPG. Their defense has cost the team both losses, allowing 39.5 PPG.
The Browns opened the NFL season with two AFC North divisional games. Their Week One game against the Cincinnati Bengals was a one-point loss, while they were blown out 41-17 by the Baltimore Ravens this week. Neither team has a tough defense, so it’ll be interesting to see how quarterback Joe Flacco plays moving forward.
The Patriots made numerous promising moves this NFL offseason, but it’s proving that games aren’t played on paper. It’s nearly impossible to take a bottom-of-the-barrel team and flip them to a playoff team in one year. They rank 25th defensively and 13th offensively, after two games.
The Giants are looking like a flop early on. After promising moves in the offseason, they’ve come out cold. They showed against the Dallas Cowboys that they can attack a team with a poor pass defense, but also showed the inability to close out games. Last year’s 24th-ranked defense is somehow looking worse in 2025.
Yes, the Bengals are 2-0, but they’ve yet to face a playoff team, and will be without quarterback Joe Burrow for an undetermined amount of time due to turf toe. The defense was the team’s detriment last year, and they will need to find a way to keep their backup quarterback in games.
The poor performance of the offense has changed team projections early on. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy has been unimpressive in the first two games of his NFL career and is already ruled out for Week Three due to an ankle injury. The team will try to stay afloat while they return from injuries and suspension.
The Texans’ defense has performed respectably, but their offense has been atrocious. The defense has allowed 17 PPG, but their offense has only rewarded them with 14. This issue was apparent last year, making it hard to trust them moving forward.
The Raiders revamped their offense this offseason, but it hasn’t equated to much. They have the second-worst scoring offense, which is a shame for their top-five scoring defense. Only time will tell how much both will balance out, and how long it’ll take for the overturned offense to fire on all cylinders.
While the Jaguars have yet to play a challenging NFL defense, they’ve still averaged 26.5 PPG, which is something to build on for the team, which struggled so mightily in 2024. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has thrown an interception in both games, something to keep an eye on as they play more difficult defenses. The defense has looked strong, but it’s another wait-and-see aspect of the team, as they’ve played the lowly Panthers and depleted Bengals.
After losing a close, high-scoring game in Week One, the Jets had one of the best NFL offenses to deal with in Week Two. Management overhauled the offense, which continues to work on meshing well, while last year’s dangerous defense has yet to show up.
Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers showed up in Week One, but it appears it was the adrenaline from playing his ex. The NFL veteran ended the game with 203 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions against an underwhelming Seattle Seahawks team.
The offense showed up this week, after losing a close, low-scoring game to the 49ers in Week One. Quarterback Sam Darnold threw for 295 yards, and running back Kenneth Walker ran for 105 yards and a touchdown, against a Steelers’ defense that was supposed to be tough this season. The defense also helped with two timely interceptions and three sacks.
After a close loss to the defending Super Bowl champions, the Cowboys won 40-37 in overtime against the Giants. They are the third-best offense in the NFL so far, including a much more productive run game. The problem lies in their third-worst defense.
After a three-point loss in Week One, the Falcons rebounded nicely over the struggling Vikings. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. hasn’t looked great in the first two games, which could go either way at this point. Will he continue to grow with the elite pieces around him, or do they win despite his efforts?
The Broncos started the year with a convincing win over an offenseless Titans team. They had a playoff-caliber defense last season, so they were given the benefit of the doubt, until giving up 29 points and 316 passing yards to quarterback Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts. It’s too early to sound the alarm, but losing to Indianapolis isn’t a good look.
The 49ers’ defense has been its identity, allowing just 17 PPG. The offense has been a struggle, and further uncertainty remains, as quarterback Brock Purdy deals with a toe injury. This defense will keep any NFL team competitive for most games, but can they stay afloat long enough for the offense to find its way?
The Cardinals have done enough to win, but they seem to play down to their competition, which has been soft thus far. Luckily for fans of the team, the schedule doesn’t stiffen up until late October. They need to use this time to sharpen up on both sides of the ball if they wish to have playoff aspirations.
Don’t look now, Giants fans, but Jones has the stats of a superstar. He’s averaging 294 passing yards per game and has yet to throw a pick. He’s also had protection, only suffering one sack over two games. They’ve yet to play the elite of the NFL, but their progress is undeniable.
The Buccaneers have won two close games, and so far, look to be the best of a weak NFC South. The offense has work to do, so this team could become more dangerous. Tampa Bay looks good in the run game, both on offense and defense, and if they figure out the passing aspects, they’ll become a dark-horse contender in the NFL.
After a hard-fought, low-scoring win over the Texans, the offense found its way in Week Two. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is putting merit into the “age is just a number” argument, and wide receiver Davante Adams clicked with his new team immediately.
The Commanders got off to a convincing start this season, with a 15-point victory over the Giants. The team then traveled to Green Bay and was humbled by an underrated Green Bay Packers squad. Quarterback Jayden Daniels had yet to look as sharp as he did in his NFL rookie season, as he deals with a knee injury. Will he be as effective in his second season with teams having time and tape to review?
The Ravens are an incredible tale of two opposites. The scoring offense is best in the NFL, while the defense ranks second-worst. This team feels like a repeat of last season, so their elite offense needs to take better care of the ball this season to be a championship contender. It’s time for quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry to become more than fantasy football championship pieces.
The Chiefs lost a three-point game to the defending champions and continue struggling with offensive fluidity. They were without wide receiver Xavier Worthy due to injury and Rashee Rice due to suspension. Can the defense keep its head above water as it enters a softer part of the schedule, or will Kansas City plummet down these NFL power rankings?
After defeating the defending AFC champions, the Chargers held a revamped Raiders team to nine points in Week Two. Last year’s defensive-minded team has evolved into a well-rounded unit. They are currently top ten in offense and defense. Quarterback Justin Herbert continues his regular-season efficiency. He has five touchdowns and no interceptions over the first two games.
After struggling against the Packers, the Lions rebounded for 52 points against the Bears. The real test will be whenever they play a good defense again. The good thing for them is that it’s not for another four weeks.
After an important divisional win last week, the Packers dominated the Commanders at home. Quarterback Jordan Love looks as sharp as ever, with four touchdowns and no interceptions or fumbles so far. The defense is also keeping up its end of the bargain, giving up just 15.5 PPG over the first two games against potent offenses.
The Bills followed up the most exhilarating game of the opening slate in the NFL with a blowout of the Jets. Their offense is every bit as dangerous as it was last season, averaging 35.5 PPG after Week Two. Paired with their top-ten defense, Buffalo is a genuine Super Bowl threat.
The defending NFL Super Bowl champions went into Kansas City and proved last year’s win was no fluke. They scored all their touchdowns on the ground, continuing to flourish off the legs of running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Jaylen Hurts.
The top three remain the same, while the Lions calmed frantic fans with a huge bounce-back performance. Teams like the Bengals and Vikings are in a messy quarterback situation, while teams like the Colts are overperforming, albeit against lesser teams. It’ll be interesting to see them in a tougher matchup.
